I got a couple pounds at Epp's a few years ago. Used it for cast bullets in 30 cal military rifles. Left a lot of unburned powder in the chamber and barrel. Maybe I wasn't loading hot enough? Used the loads suggested by Mike Venturino in Handloader and Rifle magazines. Still have nearly a pound left. Will give it another try someday.
FYI unburnt powder(small qty) is a characteristic of this powder. You'll find a few grains remaining but not to worry. Check some of the forums and you will find it quite common. I have used it in both my BFR and Sharps and very pleased with both.
I've never used it in the .45/70, just reduced loads in smaller cases and yes there is some unburn't powder but was most accurate, for what you're doing Black Powder was/is most accurate for me.
