Im looking to buy a tokarev tt-33 as my first hand gun and cant seem to find anywhere that sells them

id prefer not to go norinco but will if I have to

any other recommended cheap milsurp handguns?

id prefer to order online

thanks

I have a Tokarev also and really like shooting it. I highly recommend making one change though, the grips. I bought some from Marschal Grips and they make a huge improvement in comfort and appearance.

thanks for answers guys, tokarev already paid from tradex with a case of ammo just waiting on my rpal...att course this weekend at the range :)

btw wow nice grips for sure what would you recommend out of the lot? (as in which grips do you have?) wrap around or naw?

I have these grips.

They look great and add a bit of meat.

Its a fun pistol. For sure. Suprisingly accurate too. Put a few hundred surplus and 50 factory s&b thru it. I had 0 fte/ftf. Enjoy!!!

Which dealer had the Tokarev unissued condition, no refurb, with matching holster on EE a little while back. I think it was 350 though? Would hav made a great Red collection piece, and not alot more than a good shooter.

update: Weimajacks ad on EE looks similar but this appears slightly issued, un refurbed with matching mag and holster, for 235.00. Maybe this was ad and I was dreaming.

The stuff I just got from Tradex with my TT-33 combo is in berdan primed brass cases. The bullets are bright plated (nickel?) over steel jacket, and steel core with a little bit of a lead layer in between.
aym 53 headstamp so made in Czechoslovakia.

Oh, pistol was good with some minor pitting near the front of the slide, excellent bore.

did you have any probs with that ammo

the more I read about czech 7.62*25 ammo it seems its loaded hot, which could prematurely wear out the pistol or cause a failure

I shot some fun pistols today at my att course, still deciding if I should keep my order with tradex or just buy a modern pistol

what is trade-ex's policy on refund...I havnt received anything due to waiting on my rpal...but Have paid for the pistol

Mike

IMHO keep the order, just cause it cheap too shoot (and you cant never have to many guns ^^) and if you'll be a good with tok you'll be really good with "toylike" guns, due to it shape and some what sharp recoil it will teach to have a proper strength grip... but if cant fire steel core at your range its might not be a plan for you.

Best Regards

im not sure if I trust milsurp ammo thats all....shot a glock 17,liked it but still want to try the M&p

also shot a ruger gp100 with .38 specials and loved it...cant wait to try em with .357 :)

so i may give tradex an email :p

Tokarev is a good, strong gun, and misurp ammo will not be a problem

Tradex deal on Tokarev and ammo crate is hard to beat.

Keep that gun, shoot it and enjoy it.
Ammo is not an issue, just clean the pistol as you are supposed to.

It will not be the last gun you will purchase in your life, when you had enough of it- buy something else, and keep Tokarev or sell it here on CGN.

just seems everywhre I read is that the czech was loaded hot, another vid I found says because the rounds are 50 years old the bullet sticks to the casing which causes an over pressure which is why theyre hot...not to mention id prefer not to deal with 50 year old ammo in general im sure there will be some problems

how is the accuracy/trigger pull of a tt-33 compared to a modern day pistol

Really pleased with them.

I have a Russian TT33 from 1952 puchased from P&D in Edmonton and I absolutely love the thing. Fun to shoot and manageable on the recoil. Not too expensive to buy either. Turns heads at the range.
