Where to buy Trail Cams?

If the OP (or anyone for that matter) lives close to the border, it is a lot cheaper to head over to the states to pick cams up. Even after exchange. Example the Stealth PX18 combo (16MP) is reg $99 at Cabelas/Basspro in the states, Up here reg price is $153.

So therefore after taxes and exchange in the states it is around $130 CDN Reg Price.
Canada after taxes is $175 CDN reg price for the same identical cam.

It pays to have a mailbox service stateside.

I don't think I'd be in a big hurry to purchase the "Spypoint" label again.
Yew need sum'oarrible payshints with their customer service dep'tmint.

Sure thing, I'll ask him and PM you next week. I think I tried ordering the same one but found that it was no longer available. Went to Amazon and found half dozen identical cameras with different names, probably the same factory churning them out. Campark, Apeman and Toguard are the brands de-jour on Amazon right now, unless everyone working at the Chinese factory is instructed to leave a positive comment, their reviews are pretty good.

Thank you sir. There is certainly a pile of different names available. I'm a little skeptical on all of the positive feedback as well, had a look at some of the reviews apparently you get a free gift if you leave feedback!

I have five cheapest of cheap cameras, of various no-name type makes all probably made in China i bought from Ebay. They I think all have some sort of issue now and then. Usually it's flash didn't go off type stuff for short periods, then they work fine again. I also have two brand name cameras here, that have also had issues, one, has issues the exact same as the Chinese cameras, (but it has to be said, that that's the camera that was almost destroyed by a moose) the other, now and then just quits and needs to come inside for a bit before working again. There are also three Spypoints at moose camp. They have been absolutely rock solid until this year, when one went dead for no reason. Energizer Lithium batteries that were newly installed were dead the next time it was checked, (all of them were dead, not just one) and the only pics were of me doing the initial set up. I suspect it never went into sleep mode after those pics. Also, one of those Spypoint cameras has the annoying habit of falling out of the case when you open it.
You get what you pay for..... or do you?

Mr. JYC, check the receipts and then Spypoints web page.
Some of those cameras have a two year warranty.
I got into ahhh bit of a kerfuffle with their customer service chap.
He said the Outpost only had a one year warranty.
Their web page listed it as two.

Good luck with it.

TSC has a sale on until Jan 10 for a 3 pack of Stealthcam 10MP trail cams for 169.99, or 56.66 each. I have no idea if these are good cams, but it is pretty cheap for a name brand cam

I bought three generic $29 cameras from a US Walmart last year, they all died within a couple of months , pure junk. Don't repeat my mistake.

I have close to 20 of various makes, here is my results. Stealthcam are my go to for inexpensive but reliable, Bushnell trophy is great but pricey (I don't use where may get stolen)

Anything made by Wilgame Innovation (WGI) is a recipe for failure, just depends how long it takes. I have some fail within weeks, to lasting a couple of years . In my opinion it's not worth the money as they will fail.

Don't even think about buying a Muddy, I have 3, all were warranty returns and all of them failed as well (tell you no SD card, take great pictures and then you get files with no images - I was told was a firmware failure). They look like the Browning cameras but I have never used a Browning.

I have older (C cell) Moultries, bullet proof but slow trigger reset time and can't do burst photos.

I have one Primos camera I am trying, cheap, seems reliable, smallest camera I own, but slow trigger and only takes single pictures.

As for cheap, if you live close to the border check out Dunhams Sports. If you sign up for their rewards program you will get almost daily emails with coupons. I have regularly bought Stealthcam cameras for $49-59 US with the coupons. Same cameras at CTC are always at least 2-3x more.

Hope this helps. YMMV!the
