Where to buy?

Price has been the same on these for years...when they were called Elite 3200 they were made in Japan, and a good buy. If they are still the same scope its quite decent glass.

Ya but other manufacturers like Leupold charge $1500 for a fixed 10x. I honestly just want to know why one is soooo much more expensive, you know?
They are still MIJ from my understanding. They are priced like that because they are a fixed optic with less parts to manage during the manufacturing process.

I picked one up today and they are indeed made in Japan. Lebaron had one at $254 so I couldn't pass it up seeing as I was working a block away from the place this afternoon. Can't wait to get it mounted up and zeroed in, it's such an awesome deal for a scope this good.

Mark up? Profit margins? US made vs Japan?
Go to a store and look through both and see if the Leopold looks like it's worth 6 times the price... I don't really know. I know with glass you usually get what you pay for, but there are a few deals to be had still.
I had 2 of the Bushnells, I won't say they are a $1500 scope that sells for $250....they are a good buy for a $250 scope, and there isn't really anything else like it to compare it to in that price range.

Falcon 10 x42?

Made in China, more expensive, 5 year warranty vs lifetime with the Busnell, and they don't hold up according to "snipercentral"
Update 2010 Unfortunately it appears that I have still yet to find a scope with Chinese sourced parts that will hold up and it appears there is a reason Falcon only has a 5 year warranty on these scopes. The failures continue which include separated tubes, flakes on the lenses, canted reticles and some other more minor issues like continued softer clicks. Falcon has been good about honoring their warranty, and we commend them for that, but the scopes have not been holding up well.
I've never owned one, and probably never will based on the durability and "made in China".

Just throwing out alternatives. No recommendation expressed or implied.

I want to see Bushnell bring out a 30mm with a G2DMR reticle and lots of adjustment in Miliradians, glass in the HDMR level. Sell it for $600. winner.

I'm not a Bushnell fanboy by any means...they have some good scopes, and they have some garbage scopes too. The Legend series was a decent entry level line, they just switched production to China....but guess what? Same price as before....they even did a run of Elite out of China at one point. They do some sneaky ####....:)

Well for one, with Leupold you have the ability to get glass fogging. Where as with the Bushnell Elite they have rain guard which actually works.

Been looking for a Bushnell Elite Tactical 10x-40 scope but no one seems to carry it as stock. Anyone know of a place to pick one up? Smoking deal on those scopes.

I have three - all bought used off the EE.

In Eastern Ontario, try Lebaron and Higginsons.
