I am tryiing to put one of these together, and would appreciate any tips on ones on the market or the option of rebarreling a 30-06 for example.
Thanks in advance. And yes, I will start with awb ad.

I just picked up a synthetic stocked carbine from Epps. Maybe give them a shout and see if they have anymore coming in.

I know where there is a Remmy semi Woodsmaster in .35 Whelen for sale... It is in perfect shape. PM if you are interested.

As you suggested, I called them and the guy at the gun counter just said, it's not a catalogue item from Remington, must have been a special shipment. He had no idea if more are coming, and seemingly no idea how to check.

I actually have a very nice one I found here on gunnutz. It took several years. Perhaps rebarreling is the quicker option

It turns out someone pm'ed me and a deal was made on a whelen in good condition, so thanks to all who replied.

thanks dirt dog for that tip. I called longs gunsmith ((905) 797-2700), here are the details on that gun for those who are looking:
(assuming they still have it) it has a kdf (kleingunther) muzzle brake threaded on (cost about $400 back in the day). The same gunsmith originally sold the gun and then installed the brake. Cost is $700 for the gun, 775 if you want all the bullets, cases, dies etc. the last owner had. It was an estate deal.
No recoil pad, the gun is in fairly good condition with some minor (surface) rust on the pump slides. Nice walnut stock with cut checkering, gun was made in the 90's. Previous owner had the brake put on because the recoil was too much for him, and it made the difference. No recoil pad, just regular butt pad. Don't expect emailed photos, he is not computer literate that way. I don't know if he will ship, since he didn't get back to me.
