Where to find a traditional wood sporter stock for 10/22?

I am looking at building a 10/22 from scratch. The most trouble I have with choosing parts is the stock. I would like a nice looking wood sporter stock, nothing tactical or crazy thumbhole design. I wood prefer solid wood, but might settle on a single color laminate stock with a classic shape.

Does anyone know of such a stock and its availability in canada?

Thanks,

Jeff

Factory take offs are probably your best bet... the sporter model has a decent birch stock and some of the older ones had walnut but they're tough to come by. Most common is the carbine stock and you can find them here as take offs for $30-50

I am jealous of the guys in the US who can get the Talo stocks... they look fantastic IMHO and I would love to get my hands on one.

Post a WTB in the EE. The tactical plastic crowd always has extras from chucking good wood for crap ATI.

Unfortunately, Boyds doesn't do a classic stock for the 10/22 as far as I can tell. That's one of the reasons I'm looking at something other than a Ruger for my next .22.

Thanks for the advice. Boyds has some nice sporter stocks, but none available for the 10/22. I don't really care for the factory ruger stocks, as I have never seen a nice looking one. It's unfortunate to spend a good chunk of money on good accurate 10/22 parts, when you can't get a nice looking stock.

Ok... been following this thread in hopes someone pointed something out... But got googling around and found two outfits that might have something up your alley:

Volquartsen Custom makes some nice ones:

One of the sponsoring dealers handles Volquartsen match grade parts for the 10/22 (can't remember which one off had - just remember seeing them on one of their websites once while poking around), so there has to be some way of importing the stocks.

Revolution (never encountered them before doing some googling today), make some nice looking stocks.

No international dealers I can spot on their site, but maybe IRunGuns can swing it for you.

Hope that helps.
