Where to find decent prices for Zeiss?

Hi all,

The forum search seems to not be helping me on this one, so forgive me if it's already been asked: what's a good place that offers decent prices on Zeiss optics? Specifically, I'm looking to buy a Victory Diavari 3-12x56 T* with a #43 reticle (i.e. good ol' mil-dot). If it's a brick and mortar place, make sure it's in the Montreal area...

Any advice as to where to get it?

Thanks :D

Dantes has the best price that I've found on the Conquest 3-9, 40. I don't know how they are on other models.

Too bad their staff comes of as being douchebags... I remember asking to see a catalogue once and the guy just says "I won't give it to you" and stares blankly at me. I ask "What do you mean?", he's all: "I can lend it to you, but you can't keep it"... Geez, he could've been a bit more polite to a customer willing to dish out cash; a simple "Yes, but please return it" would've been nice.

Anyway, were the prices you found there better than what you found online?

dont know if thats a good price for that exact scope. but you pay the lower price (without UK VAT tax of 17.5%) and ive found it to be MUCH cheaper for schmidt bender scopes than here in Canada. for instance Classic 5x42 is $600 from them shipped, $900 plus tax and shipping here in Canada..

plus they do free shipping most of the time. really good company to deal with..

That's a pretty sweet deal... about 1400$ for a scope that's over 1800$ from US online shops.

I don't have much experience ordering from overseas; any issues with ordering scopes from the UK? If I'm not paying their VAT, I imagine I'll be paying our GST when it goes through customs - right?

Also, I imagine they won't be needing my PAL info for just a scope, correct?

Cool to hear! :) Any idea regarding my other question:

you might get stung for GST, but you might not, either way its only 5%, and they send via royal mail/ Canada post. so wont get any silly brokerage charges..

better than risking loosing it like from US. and you would still pay 5% either way..

but ive ordered smaller items and not paid anything..

you could ask them to put a lower value on the customs slip?

and no you dont need anything, no licence, no import permit.

Yeah, there's a lot of that in Montreal sporting goods stores.

I just went to their website and downloaded the "February Specials" pdf. They are advertising the scope I mentioned for 499.99. That's $50 less than SIR and $100 less than WSS.

Wonder what their problem is - although SAIL Baron and Le Baron have been really professional.

Forgive what may seem a newbie question (hey, it does say "Newbie" under my handle...), but what are SIR and WSS? Must be stores, right?

Crunchies,

Yeah, I guess I can ask them to put less; wonder if it's legal!! Anyway, I won't lose sleep over 70$...

yeh its not a lot to pay, still a massive saving from buying here.. ill be ordering from them again soon. i dont think its legal to try and avoid it.

SIR is sirmailorder.com (probably soon becoming cabelas.ca) and WSS is wholesalessports.com.
