Where to find info on W. J. Jeffery shotgun?

My family was just handed down a W. J. Jeffery 12 gauge sibe by side that belonged to my great granfather. What I'm looking for is a link in which I can find out more info on the shotgun searching by serial number. This is my first attempt to research an older firearm and am not sure where to start.

BTW, Jefferey is one of the finer English makers and depending on condition the gun could be quite valuable. It's definitely an heirloom worthy of note.
