Where to find LaRue products?

What about a picatinny rail off a Tavor, could one be sent to the US from Canada and vise versa? I never heard such crazy excrement.

that is a good question about the tavor rail. someone more up to date on itar can likely answer that. the main issue seems to be retailers selling and not personal sales?

The questions that need to be asked re: a Tavor rail - if leaving the US, is the manufacturer registered with USDOS as an exporting manufacturer, AND is the actual exporter registered with USDOS as an exporter - answer no to either, it's illegal. Value under $100/500 does not affect this. Value Over ($100/500) Same as above, but an import permit is required from DFAIT, in order for the exporter to get an export permit from USDOS. Value over $100/500 absolutely requires USDOS approval/export permit. The US Government does not recognize a difference between your uncle Al and Brownells - either one needs to be licensed to export and have paid for the licensing involved. Hence all those folks suggesting that you get your brother in law / uncle / cousin Cletus to buy you stuff and ship it to you are essentially counseling you to break the law, regardless of value. Most of those folks think it's OK if you only break US law. This can cause issues if you as the intended receiver ever try to enter the US.

Do you guys have airsoft rifles in Canada? The airsoft Tavor will accept rails and other accessories just like a real Tavor. There is no laws on sending airsoft toy parts is there?

Are you talking about the lower rail that mounts to the handguard? I bring those in from the US without issue. The ones with the front tab that thread into your factory hand guard without having to drill or modify.

I'm talking about the short optic rail that attaches to the barrel mounting points.

Ah, ok then that may be a different story.

But couldn't it be shipped saying it was an airsoft toy part as airsoft guns accept some of the exact same parts? They offer airsoft rails and all kinds of parts. How can anyone tell and airsoft part form another part?

If the exporter is caught it's jail time and MASSIVE fines (up to 1 million dollar fines) for ITAR violations. Ask Midway USA why they don't ship to Canada anymore.

Seriously, with how many companies are legally exporting parts from the U.S. it's worthless to discuss smuggling over the border.

Brownells, Rainier Arms, Wolff Gun Springs, Numrich Arms, to name a few.

And it's also against the site rules to discuss smuggling gun parts.

ANY firearm part, be it a 5 dollar screw or spring, if it's designed for a firearm is controlled under ITAR. Most times parts under (now 500 dollars) that are not: Barrels, Receivers/Actions, revolver cylinders, triggers etc... do not require a full export permit, only to be shipped by a licensed exporter.

Many times parts DO come across the border, and do not get caught. But every single time a part DOES get caught and detained by U.S. Customs, it's one step closer to us NOT being able to get gun stuff from the USA anymore.

Well, for one thing it is NOT a gun part. It is an accessory as it in no way aids in the function of the gun. By seeing how bad things are about trying to get stuff for the Tavor I have decided to sell the thing having never picked it up from my dealer. What a huge mistake it was to buy the thing in the first place. I think I'd rather have a sling shot than that rag.

Are you serious? The tavor has got to be the best rifle I own. It edges out my dd m4

My bet is there will be no Larue products coming north of the border.

Greg

You would be wrong on that account - one agency is about to receive OBR precision rifles, and other orders are being filled by Rampart for LE/MIL right now, if you can come by CFSAC next week you will see LaRue product on display with an OBR. As mentioned by Rampart the civilian side of the house will slowly be making its way up to Canada...

Oh so I still can't get any on the civie side. Just product for the good boys. Like I said my guess is it will be a while and from the comments from Mark to me personally and on his forum, I won't hold my breath. He won't even let you use a non US card on an order with a delivery address in the US.

I understand your frustration - but everything takes time and look how long the T97 carbines took...

I'm a big Larue fan and buy there dry rub too for my barbeques, but there stuff will make it up at a time when it won't really matter. There are better options, like KAC for example and you can always order from Europe as well.. With the next By elections in 2014 will see what the Dems will get and if the Republicans can hold on to the senate, if they loose ground look for another Firearmegeddon again. Followed by Bans or more restrictions... Obongo is not done yet..
