Hi- maybe just maybe some of you guys would know where to find metric 2 mm detent balls.... It's for an obscure euro gun and 1/16" is too small and 3/32" is too big.

Brownells only carries SAE sizes and can't source metric. Anyone in industry, machining or manufacture know of an industrial source?

When you call them you'll be asking for "loose balls" so they know you're after just the balls by themselves.

They come in different grades. The lowest grade will be way more than fine for detent use. They are cheap too. For this size a bag of 100 will be around $5 to $7.

Hit up any of the high end bicycle shops and like as not you will walk out with as many as you want for a couple cents each.

LOTS of loose balls used on older bikes, most of the shops will have boxes of them in various sizes.

For that matter, you could mail order them from a bike supplies place yourself, if you need them 100 at a time.

1\16 = .0625 inches
3\32 = .0938 inches
2mm = .0787 inches

Try 2 mm, as said above, almost every ball bearing ever made is metric. Motion Industries (used to be BC Bearing), Applied Industrial Technologies (used to be Bearing and Transmission) are the 2 main players, but I'm not sure if they do cash sales.

eBay: "100 pcs - (2mm) (0.0787" Inch) Chrome Steel Bearing Ball" US $3.95 Free Shipping (Item 291119448148)

We have a winner! K-C Thanks a million! I looked at a ton of eBay listings but didn't find that one till you posted the link. Ordered a bunch of different sizes for other uses so got about 300 coming for only $18

Thanks to everyone else for their suggestions.

Grind/file the back end off a grease nipple. Nice little ball there might work. Use them for detents on my NEA front hand guard on my CZ 858.
