Does anyone use or know where to get a Montana Sling from in Canada?
I really want to try one with My Marlin for bush walking in winter when you might want the quick adjust for big coats or to put on across chest.

scanaego;
Good morning to you sir, I trust this finds you acceptably well on what's still an early Sunday here out west.

While I've not yet met the owner/maker in person, I've exchanged correspondence with Pat Sinclair many times and have found him to be a real gentleman. The slings come very highly recommended too - from a wide variety of users.

Anyway, while it might be a bit cost prohibitive alright with our Canadian dollar being so low, have you contacted Pat to see if he'd not ship it up here?

What I've been attempting to do lately with my US orders is ordering multiple items if possible, as it saves a wee bit on freight - sometimes...

Good luck with the sling whichever way you decide sir.

Yeah I have had no luck and I am surprised no Canadian vendor is selling these as they are really nice looking and functional. But expensive right now due to the dollar.

Good morning to you sir, here's hoping this finds you well and warm on what's proving to be a wet day again for us here.

I had a quick exchange with Pat an hour ago and he confirmed that he surely does and will send his products across the medicine line.

He did request that you phone in the order however, as his system won't allow online credit card orders from outside the US.

I hope that was useful for you or someone else out there wanting a well built leather sling. Good luck whichever way you decide.

If you want to shop Canadian, find your local saddle maker, he should be able to make you one, it is a very simple knot that has been used on the end of reins for years, my grandpa showed me how to do it when I was a kid.

But it never hurts to support the craftsman who designed the sling and buy directly from him.

here is the knot on some junk leather, I just made to see if I remembered how to do it. If I ever get around to making one for myself with the proper bridle leather I might make up a few extras for sale.

I have been using one (1 1/4 inch) for the past six years. The knot slipped so badly, after a while, I finally cut it off and replaced it with holes and laces. I suspect the problem with mine was that the leather was too heavy for the knot to work as it should. Apart from this, it is a quality piece and I like it very much. They are available direct.

Thanks for you help everyone. I am just not into spending over a $100 for a sling.
I also like a quality made military style leather sling. I think I will just with one of those.
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to get one of these?
I have ordered one before from the net and it was junk. I want a nice one, quality leather with good frogs and keepers that are made proper.
I will order a Montana Sling from Pat when prices are reasonable.
