Where to find octagonal barrels?

I need to source a 1" wide octagonal barrel blank to eventually go on a Remington Rolling Block (No.5 type action). Prefer 26" or longer.

Anyone know where I might look? Preferably in Canada?

Already talked to Bits of Pieces And they just want to order me a Green Mountain bbl blank, 2 months wait and they mark it up, whereas I could just order it myself cheaper.

I'd much rather find out someone stocks them in Canada...?

Well if the mark up is worth your hassle with all the paperwork go for it. I don't think anyone would stock one up here, rather a specialty item. Sounds like a nice project, always liked the look of an octagonal barrel, very classic.

Have you checked any of the Canadian barrel makers like Ron Smith, Mclennan, Gailliard, etc.? One of these *might* be able to do up one, but the cost may equal what you'd pay for importing one from the U.S. following the usual rules.

Get yourself a regular barrel and have 8 flats milled on it, simple...
