I live on Vancouver Island and the only deer here are blacktails. I've got a couple of areas in the interior where I go for mulies but don't know any good spots for whitetail. I don't expect anyone to tell me where their favorite stand is but I was wondering if someone would be willing to tell me about a general area where I could find some whitetails in BC. I hunt with both bow and rifle.

Not too many just yet but they are coming closer!!

I hear the Christian Valley just a little east of Osoyoos. I've also seen quite a few at the top fo the Tulameen, north of Princeton. Good luck

Nearly hit about 19 White tails driving through Jasper. Tons of them up there.

If ya got a big truck, ya dont even need a gun to get one.

Hunt the christian valley everyone else does. Wear red... expect to find people all over the place, the deer are there though. I have hunted in the valley for 17 years... I'll never go back..

been shot at 2 times..

Sorry for the bitterness.... but the last 2 years were terrible... way to many guys.

This one morning i got up early went to this ridge i like to hunt, covers 2 cut blocks... really great place...

so here i am sitting, the sun is coming up, I hear a quad.. the quad stops. 20 minutes later this guy is walking up the ridge I am sitting on. He stops and talks to me. I tell him that my plan is to sit here untill lunch.. so he walks past me down the ridge and into the area I am over looking...

That was the last straw for the valley.

But lots of deer. I always got mine out of there.

I've taken one near Princeton but most in the Kettle River drainage.ie Rock Creek to Grandforks. There's good spots all through the Kootenays.

The real monsters as far a BC goes are in the farm country around Fort St. John, but a lot of that is private land.

We definately have some good whitetail in the Peace country with a few Boone & Crockett bucks taken each year. As mentioned, lot's of private land but if you have permission, you'll generally get something decent...good hunting :)

NICE DEER. I wonder about going that far without having made arrangments for hunting on all that private land. I hear there are those that will sell permission to hunt on their land. I'm a paramedic in Duncan and one of the guys I hunt with is RCMP. Maybe we should get in touch with some of our government issue friends in that neck of the woods. Maybe one of them knows someone we could make arrangments with. Those critters look worth the drive.

And do'nt forget the "either ###, white-tail deer", bow only season, just after the gun season in 8-1 to 8-15, 8-21 to 8-25, from Nov 25-Dec 10 with a bag limit of 2(1) :)

Unlike during the gun season, very few hunters out there during the bow season. 4X4 is a must. Most snow on these roads in the above areas are well compacted from heavy use during the gun season.
