does anyone kno where you can find a mosin carbine in good shape? id like a new one for plinking (not collecting) since mine is shot out completly the barrel has been counterbored already and it shoots like 5 inch groups at 50 yards:mad: not in any rush to get one but i love the gun just the accuracy sucks

anyone kno wheres a good place to kee an eye out for one?....

Tradex (one of the site sponsors at the top) still carries various models of the russian Mosin at a decent price and in great condition. I bought my M38 there - it shoots well.

Check them out.

I've picked up an M44 and M38 from Tradex. It was $169 (about $200 to my door) for the M38 and $159 plus shipping for the M44 (laminate). The M44s are not counterbored, and IIRC should have like new bores. My M38 carbine was counterbored but with a good bore otherwise. I think that they're currently listing the M38s for $139 with stock repairs, and used to have M44s (regular stock) for that price as well.

If you're concerned about bore condition, give them a call. Anthony has been most helpful with all of my questions.

Regards,

Frank
