Where to get a T97 threaded?

I would like my factory pinned T97 flash hider removed, and the strange Chinese thread replaced with a standard thread.

Any places to look at for doing this at a reasonable price. CSC wanted $325 not including a brake, hoping cheaper with quality is an option.

Was thinking a Fortis brake, but that doesn't matter much.

There are far more options for imperial vice metric threads. I was looking to do this as well. Always hated that massive birdcage on the T97. Thought about phoning Rod Henrickson Gunsmithing in Edmonton to see what the going rate might be.

It may not be. I'm not familiar with how easy (or difficult) it is to remove a t97 barrel.

If you get your flash hider off, please measure the diameter and pitch of the threads.... if for nothing else than my curiousity.

The barrel would be left in the receiver probably. It's all pinned and not easily removable.

If I get it cut off I'll ask for the part and see if I can get it figured out haha.

you can buy a thread gauge at any good metalworking supply store. Looks like a bunch of saw tooth knives on a pin...
Threads can only be cut so many ways and there are a number of ways in both imperial and metric..
when you say that the thread is some possibly proprietary thread.. that makes me wonder. It wouldn't be the first time that some chinese guy thought he had a great idea. Probably wont be the last either... good luck.

I have access to thread pitch gauges. But it's not always relivent with Chinese stuff. My Norinco pistols grip screws were completely different than any of them.

My issue, even if it's something not too crazy... the muzzle devices I'd be able to get would be super limited. I want 1/2-28

I believe China uses the metric system - use a set for metric threads. ;)

Of course this is all pointless if the barrel isn't threaded. Pic from Google images:

Considering it's a 18.6" barrel you can't cut much off and be legal.
The one in the pic looks to have been pinned onto the barrel. If that's the case have you tried to drive the pin out? Or are you just assuming that your barrel is threaded?
The Internetz suggest that they are pinned with a type of rockset used as well, no mention of threads under it.

Heres a page with some info.

Some sites say 18.6, some say 19". I've never actually measured mine. I was basing my assumption on someone else who had his threaded.

I didn't do it myself. My understanding is that it's a pinned and a metric thread. I brought mine to Dlask to have them remove the pinned flash hider and thread the barrel. I don't have the tools to do this on the west coast (my dads shop is back east). It cost 100 bucks or so and was well worth it, even if you have the tools to do it, this way it wont be screwed up :D

Edit. Just noticed you even linked the same thing.

Not threaded should be easier / cheaper.

Your are right about that one. Look at the options for the M305. Limited to say the least. I would be fine if you were limited to good muzzle brakes, but sadly this is not the case.

Alright CSC said they didn't want to do it because they would have to try and get the barrel out.
Tacord said they are too busy until fall.

Might try and get ahold of Dlask again.

Any other ideas?
