I am buying a Pelican 1500, and I plan to buy a heat wire cutter to do custom cutouts for my handguns and accessories. The Pelican comes with pull and pluck foam that is pre cut into square sections. What I will need is just straight foam sections that are not pre cut. Does anyone know a good source for the foam?

When I needed to do something similar with a Nanuk case, I contacted CRAFM and they ordered me extra foam. Don't know if it would work with Pelican, but foam should be foam, no?Site sponsor.....banner up top.

You need Kaizen foam, very easy to cut as it comes in layers:

Pick and pluck foam is garbage plus it attracts lots of moisture (over time) because it is a huge sponge, kaizen foam is not a sponge and if it gets wet, water will not soak into the material.

You can buy the Kaizen foam from the pelican store for $50 plus shipping (another $50) for an already 1500 case sized piece, or you can go to Home Depot and order a huge piece for less but not sure which thickness they have (this is important).

I bought it from the pelican store and it fits the case perfectly, it comes in two pieces which means it allows me to create 2 different 'levels'; the top level (the one you see when you open the case) has the holster and pouches and other accessories, lower level (hidden) contains 2 pistols and 6 magazines.

Cheers.

The pelican store sells the case and the kaizen foam, so you can order both in one shot. I did that.
CHeers.

Any upholstery store.
I go down to the local textile district to get my foam.
Egg crate, solid, different densities are all readily available and cheap.
There's actually a place called "The Foam Store".

Guess what they sell...

Nice but where can I order that online? ThePelicanstore.com doesn't ship to Canada

There is also a refridgeration insulation foam called "armaflex" which you can get in sheets 3ftX4ft of different thickness 1/4" to 3". It is closed cell and flexible and can be cut to whatever size you need for a case.
