I got a USP that the mags are hanging up in. Its the hammer strut causing the issue i just dont know if its normal or not. I could likely fix it myself if i knew if its normal or not. My buddies 40 dosent do it but not sure about other 45s

Did you take it apart? Any firearm that has to be returned or taken to a certified armorer is going to be a hassle, and because there are limited certified HK Armorers in Canada, it would be almost certainly a time consuming task. ( as far as I know, there are only 4 certified for Canada (civilian), some LE and I would assume some military.
Try the HKpro website, they have an HK facts page, it has troubleshooting sections that may have a solutiion.
Do all you mags get hung up, or only one? Is the magwell clean? Are the mags clean? IF the fit seems to tight, try a 1000-1200 grit sand paper, and lightly polish the outside of the mags. Check for any loose pieces of plastic inside the mag well that may be catching the mags. Some HK mag releases are stiff when new, and may even require a small amount of oil.

I am not sure how yoru hammer strut could be causing this, unless it is not seated properly. :?:

I have not completly taken it apart yet. The problem is when the hammer is cocked back the hammer strut is pushing the mainspring into the magwell. its then the mainspring that is hanging up the mag. With the gun cocked the mag isnt too bad and will almost fall free but with the slide back i have to pull the mag out manually. I checked my buddies 40. the hammer strut does push the mainspring foward butt not as mich as my 45 and it does not hang the mag up at all. My assumption is that the hammer strut is slightly bent likely during the heat treatment prosses. I'm sure i can fix it myself. I just wouldnt mind talking to someone about the probelm first.

Q&A FROM HKPRO

My mags stick when I try to eject it with the hammer back but doesn't stick with the hammer forward, why?

USP are shipped with the Lock-out safety device in the locked position. If the gun is not unlocked first, when someone (usually the dumb guy at the gun store) racks the slide forcefully, it will bend the hammer strut. This is what binds against the mag. Contact HK for a new strut.

I hate to say this, but FN Sports may be able to help you. Jose there seems to have a real grip. You may however be forced to go through your local dealer.
