Hey all,

After looking through my Lyman reloading book, I was on my way to Lebarons to get some items like bullets and powders and some primers.

I get there and they had NOTHING that I wanted. I wanted to get some Nosler Ballistic Silvertip bullets and some Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets along with some IMR-4046 Power and some Winchester Large rifle primers and they had none of that, I went to the other Lebarons store and they had nothing too.

Where can I go to get some stuff? Is Bass Pro even worth going? I don't know of any other stores I can go to. :ar15:

Any help would be nice.

Thanks

Lots of those can be order on-line, however, you can go to Ellwood Epps in Orillia and they get you what you need. Another place is Williams Arms in Port Perry. Try to call them before hand and ask if they have what you need.
Most likely they do have Ballistic Tips, and Epps carry IMR4064.

Epps is like 3 hours away. :( Thats far. Nowhere in Toronto is a decent shop?

I could order online but shipping is a pain in the ass. This sucks, there should be atleast 1 good store in the GTA.

I am going by Epps tomorrow, if it is open, I will stop in and see what they have.

Thanks

Don't forget about Al Simmons in Hamilton...a short hop on the 407/403.
They have in stock bullets, dies, primers and powder...just not a huge selection.
I would call ahead to see if they have what you're looking for.
Epp's is a better bet for having what you're looking for in stock.
Yeah, it's a bit of a drive, but they have tons of stuff...
So take a drive and stock up..I never get out of there for under $500!

Bass Pro has a few selection of rifle gun powders.. seen it last week when I was there. They sell a few selection for hunting bullet heads too not sure what, I dont reload for rifle rounds. You might want to consider checking it out.

The place in Missassauga and Markham is Lebarons ad they have everything except decent gun related stuff in stock. Sure they have 50 rifles in stock but thats about it.

Bass pro I have no idea because I don''t shop there as they are expensve.

Hamilton or Port Peery are like an hour drive which blows. Epps is probably a great store but in the middle of nowhere. I am going to sudbury area tomorrow. If Epps is open on my way back then I will go there. I just wish there was a place which was closer

Good luck in your search for a sport store that carry your reloading stuff close to you. In this hobby.... you will have to learn to live with what resources available to us Canadian. Heck, I drive down to US just for the purpose of getting the reloading components I need that I cant get via mail going here in Canada.

Is that a good store? Do you know where it is located? Oshawa is way closer the Epps.

Well I drove kind of close to Epps today but it was 6:00pm so I thought they would be closed and didn't end up going. I was hoping to get some bullets/primers/powered :(

Try giving Giovanni's Guns at Dufferin and Wilson a try. I called them the other day as they are close to my work and was told that they carry IMR, Winchester and Alliant powders, in addition to other reloading components. Though mail ordering from Higginson's Powders is always a good bet, the $15 Hazmat fee and postage would make it costly for just one can of powder.

Good Luck,

Frank

And you expected stock? Silly boy.:D

LeBaron's is French for NOT IN STOCK.

Nosler Ballistic Silvertip - for moose? Que Pasa? Cereal - you should consider moving to Orillia - then you'd be closer to Epps, and the range...
BTW - You'll likely find that Hornady (bullets) and Hodgdon (powders) are the more ubiquitous selection at local retail outlets. Most Hodgdon powders are engineered to be less temperature sensitive - a desireable property for those standing 300 y shots in sub zero weather.

Another 0 for trip to LeBarons.....what a surprise!

BassPro bites as well. It seems that they are getting out of the reloading component business altogether and their stock is pathethic to non-existant. Complain to management if you go. If they won't support reloaders, why should we patronize the store?

As I have learned, you need to determine what you want and then either keep checking back, try phoning around to the stores suggested here or go on line and mail order. Try Higginsons.

Be patient. You now know why reloaders buy so much bulk. They hate running out, they hate hearing we don't have such and such in stock and we don't know when we will get it in.

I should go there as they are only 1 km from my work. It just looks like a dump so I never thought to accually go in there. I would order from Higginsons but I only want a few things right now. Maybe when I want alot of stuff I can give them a call.

I always wondered why everybody said Lebarons was so bad. Now I know. :(

Silvertips bad for moose? baby moose? I dunno, I can target practise with them if they are a bad choice for moose. I would move if I could get a decent paying job anywhere other then the GTA.

Bah, I never knew why it was so hard just to run a store that doesn't really sell out of products because they accually stock everything. it sucks

:puke:

Cereal - for moose, you want penetration - something ballistic tips are not known for.. You would get much better performance out of a much less expensive bullet - say the Hornady Interlock Spire Point. (Hornady Interlocks run about 22$ per 100, so you could pick up two boxes of different weights say 165 for deer and 200 for moose, or 180 for both, if economy governs.)
Using the Hornady's would allow you to practice with the same bullet you hunt with - it'll save you having to re-sight the rifle for your hunting bullet in the fall. Yes - bullets of the same weight from different manufacturers can/do have different points of impact.
Top that off with some Hodgdon 4350 and you are good to go. (H4350 has consistently outperformed other powders in my reloading trials over the years.)

Cereal, take these as a hint when buying your reloading stuff especially if you intend to do a lot of shooting/hunting.
If you find the reloading components - powder, bullet heads, PRIMERS and I mean PRIMERS that you will really NEED for your reloads...... I suggest you grab as much as your wallet can take... It might take you a while before you see them available again.... especially PRIMERS.... I stock them to the max allowed. So... you still wonder why those components are always out of stock??? I will guarantee you... I am not the only one doing this... once you learn the pattern of how they come and go so quickly... you will learn to hoard these components too. :D :D :D

I am on my way right now to Epps :) Took the day off to go and see what I can get.

I got my 4064 from Gagnons' in Oshawa http://ww w.gagnonsports.com/

Best to call ahead to see if it's in stock.

Epps is great - I always feel like a kid in a Candy store when I go there. Ask the guys at the gun counter if they any surplus ammo - you might get a pleasant surprise.

Now for the best bang for the buck, buy some bulk supplies from higginson's.
