Where to get Target .22LR?

So, this year I had Dlask Arms build me a lovely DAR22 with a Timney trigger group and all the bells & whistles. Have had her out to the range several times, shooting a variety of ammunition, mostly CCI types and she is a tack driver, especially with my favourite bulk .22LR ammunition, CCI Blazer. Since then, I've snagged myself one of Neil Waltz' 22LR dies. I have some high velocity lead round nose RWS ammo, Rifle Match, Rifle Target, 50 RWS, Gecko, etc... and Federal Gold Match. Once the snow melts, I'd like to work up a range report on stock lead round nose target 22LR ammo, vs. Waltz "Eley Tip" vs. Waltz hollowpoint. Basically, I'm curious if Waltz' dies can improve on already excellent LRN 22LR ammo. Can anybody recommend a retailer that carries a number of target grade, lead roundnose (36-40gr) ammunition so I can put together a diverse selection? I've exhausted everything in my area, om Ottawa to Kingston. I think this will be fun.

Cheers,

Ian

Hirsch Precision and Nordic Marksman for ammo.

There was a detailed testing and range report thread by another CGN about his experience with those dies. His experience was not encouraging.

You might be surprised when you start testing. The tightest 5-round groups I've gotten (~.375") with my BSA Martini Model 12 (ca 1930) have been with Federal Champion 510C, a HV round that I bought for $19.95 a brick.

The Canadian Tire on Gardiner's Road in Kingston carries RWS Pistol Match for $9/box of 50. Pricey but great ammo. 40 gr lead round nose, 1080 fps. Works extremely well in my Walther GSP. 30-50 boxes in stock as of last week.

It may actually be cheaper to go straight to the top and buy a brick of the best Eley has to offer and the best Lapua has to offer. Not often that ammo is out matched and it really is what most BR shooters are using. It is consistent ammo, it costs a lot more as more care is put into making it, especially regarding the priming material.

Hirsch Precision and Nordic Marksman. You will find high end target Lapua .22lr ammo there.
