I have recently purchased a semi-auto shotgun and I want to try it out in skeet/trap/etc.
Can someone recommend a good place to go to try one of these sports?
I am not a member of any shotgun clubs, so this place must allow visitors.
I think Barrie Gun Club allows visitors, but their web site shows it's open only untill 12 pm on Saturday - that's when my Saturday morning starts. And they seems to be busy with some competition this weekend.

So anyway - please tell me what other places I should consider and what kind of rules are there.

Thanks.

there a club just up 400 hwy and turn off at 89 i think go west first road turn south and its on your right hand side

Lawrey's in Caledonia.

RePete.
Lawry's is a good place to BUY clay targets but not a good place to shoot them unless they've put up a range since I visited them last.

The three most popular sporting clays ranges in the GTA area would be Galt Sportsmen near Cambridge, Oshawa Skeet north of Oshawa and Uxbridge Shooting north of Toronto. I know that Galt will allow non-members to shoot clay targets. I'd contact the other clubs directly to see what their rules are.

What about that skeet club in Mississauga (north of the airport lands on Derry Road)? The name escapes me, but I believe they are open on weekends and allow visitors.

North York - by the airport is now closed.
Shame to see clubs close, but the city had grown around it, and that was the end of it.

Closed  It was open for business until last year :( .

Does Islington Sportsmen's Club in Caledon allow non-members to shoot on a pay-by-round basis?

Thanks for all the information.
I went to Silverdale last weekend, and that place is nice, but kind of a long drive for me (from Newmarket).

Can you provide any more information like address/phone or at least name for this place? This seems like the best choice for me.

Iouri,

Uxbridge is about 20 minutes from you. Call them for directions (905) 852-5907.

We are open Wednesdays from 10 AM to Dusk, and Sundays from 10AM to 4 PM. If you go on a Sunday, it is usually pretty busy until about Noon, than levels out. There is Sporting Clays, 4 Stand and Skeet (American and International).

We like visitors.

The place near 89 and 400 is the Toronto International Trap Shooting club. They are only open on Sundays I believe. They have trap, skeet, sporting clays and I think five stand. Non members can shoot there but pay more per round.

Definitely Hamilton - sporting clay/skeet & trap.

If you want to drive a little further try Galt

I went to Galt club last week - place is OK, but drive is a little bit too long.

Thanks everybody for replies, I see there are few places that are very close to me, I'll be trying them out in next weeks.
