Where to hunt Gophers in AB?

Looks almost like someone was using artillery to go after the gophers. Some interesting shell craters there!

This makes number 30 for me so far, haven’t done a full day of gopher shooting just shooting ones of opportunity as I do chores and check fields around my place.
It's nice that you guys can shoot gophers as early as February some years.....:)

We are lucky if we see our larger Columbian Ground Squirrels by April 9th or 10th.

I've shot Yellow Bellied Marmots as early as March 11th in the Okanagan. Now that we live in the East Kootenay's near Cranbrook, we see very few marmots. Definitely not enough to shoot. Some Yellow Bellied Marmots hitched a ride on a CP Rail boxcar, and started a small family right in the city of Cranbrook. And some are seen near Cranbrook Toyota as well. I have seen the Hoary Marmot around here, but they are more rare than a six-point bull elk......:):ROFLMAO:

Last year when my wife and I were shooting gophers near Claresholm, we ended up shooting both the Richardson's Ground Squirrels and the Columbian Ground Squirrels on the same farmers field. I didn't know you guys also had the larger Columbian Ground Squirrel species.

Never had the opportunity to shoot an Alberta Badger as of yet, but the farmers certainly encourage it. We are not allowed to shoot badgers here as some do-gooder decided they are rare and should be protected. Oddly enough we see our fare share of badgers when shooting our gophers here........:)

I love your gopher pics. I thought I was weird as I take a lot of photo's of gopher kills. Yet here we are......:):ROFLMAO::love:(y)

In the spring when shooting them is all new and exciting again I take a lot more photos. Plus early spring like this I “play” around shooting them with lots of different rifles and shot guns. By may long week end when we are in the thick of it and shooting gophers is no longer fun and it’s work and all the work is done with my 22, taking the photos just about all stop for me. When I shoot another badger because I know it will happen I will post up some pics. I can’t belive I haven’t seen one yet this spring.
