Where to hunt west of Edmonton?

Err.. hunt what? Elk, moose, whitetail, mule deer, goat, sheep, ducks, geese, grouse, bunnies, coots & rails, gophers, snipe, what? It makes a little bit of difference as to where to go.

I just moved out here a month ago. I just want to know some possible hunt locations for the game I mentioned within a 0.5-3 hour drive of Spruce Grove.
I realize I don't have draw tags for this year...that wasn't part of my question..

Get a map that shows crown land and oil field roads. There are so many oil roads a few hours west (then a little north or south) that it will boggle your mind. If you get too deep into them you will get lost so be carefull. Most maps are not detailed enough to show every road.

Some times oil companys put up signs that say "private road" or some thing like that, ignore them. Just make sure you are on crown land. Also be very carefull when hunting as there are men working, pipe line risers and gas plants out there. Hit a pipe line or shoot into a plant and kiss your ass good bye. If the explosion dosn't get you the poison gas will.

I reccomend tacking another hour onto your drive and heading up to the Peace region, arguabley {or however you spell that} some of the best hunting in Alberta
I was up in Grande Prairie to Peace River this year and saw LOTS of game (mostly mule deer), nice country too :!:

If you start exploring the oil/gas roads and you aren't familiar I'd definately have my GPS at the ready to track my ass out of there. It's not a matter of if but WHEN you'll get lost. Those damn roads and lease accesses all look alike so the track back feature would be essential. Lots of game though.
