Where to Mount Red Dot on Cantilever

Hey,

I just bought a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight and I plan to mount it on my Remington Cantilever rifled barrel. I am just wondering where along the rail I should place it (right up at the front towards the muzzle or back towards the stock or dead in the middle).

What are the pros and cons of each? Where is everyone else mounting their optics and why?

My Remington is a 20ga 870 compact that I plan to use for deer hunting. I am going to be sighting the shotgun in at 50 yards.

For red dots on rails I like them forward as it gives me more view with both eyes to watch moving targets. Its a personal thing. Try it mounted each way and see what feels looks rite
