Where to pin mags?

You wouldn't believe the amount of mags Ive bought from people and Had to pin...At lease hes planning on pining them..
But it sounds like hes trying to import them.....

So why state the obvious? Why bring more attention to it? At least he is making them conform. None of our business what he has, he has asked a question to 'legalize' something, not how to make it illegal. For all we know he as a friend in the US who is going to pin them and give them to him. I have a buddy in New Mexico, a cop, who had given me AR mags, 30 rounders and he had them pinned for me at 5 rounds, hesitantly, but he did.
Nope I am not in possesion of prohibited devices. In Canada a magazine when dissasembled is no longer a magazine because no single part of a magazine legally constitutes a mag.
I guess nobody knows how to work a ruler and owns pinned mags

You're the one that needs to learn how to use a ruler. I had to do my BHP mags without any help, and it was no biggie.
I never thought that he was in possession of assembled Hi Cap mags, but just asking.

Ok... Magbody upsidedown.
Drop in the follower. Now, carefully insert 10 rounds (Might have to drop a pencil on the follower to keep cartridges from falling out).
Once you get all 10 in... drop in your ruler and presto; add a couple mm to make up for the rivet diameter.
The next hurdle after you have drilled holes and riveted is the fact that the mag spring will catch on the rivet; for this you file down the rivet inside of the mag body so that it can clears the spring but still block the follower.
Good luck! Measure twice, drill once

And how did you block your mags? I could without any problem make a wood dowel for inside. Problem with rivet is you have to take into account the spring being compressed under the follower by the rivet, not just simply where the follower goes when its at 10rds. Should maybe I mark where the 11th round should be to compensate?

Problem with this method is that you are forgetting that a compressed spring also takes up space...
Seriously, either get hold of factory 10 round mags and measure that way, or get pinned mags and copy the exact spot where they are pinned. Otherwise you may have to mutilate a mag by making several holes before you get it right.
