Where to place a Mojo?

For those that use a Mojo or other spinner, do you put it right in among the decoys or a ways away?

So far I have always put mine about 15 to 20 yards off to the side so it appears to be about to land in the decoys.

Place it where you want to shoot the birds. They usually come right to it and set up to land pretty tight to it. I prefer running a pair to just one.

In a field, always right where you want to shoot them, on the water I will sometimes put it a bit upwind of my boat so they focus on the spinner and give you a good side profile shot when coming in.

Thank you.

When birds get tricky late in the season over water they sometimes become nervous of the Mojo. I like to place mine a little hidden so it gets their attention but disappears from view when they are circling. It makes it look more like a wing stretch rather than a flyer. I also keep them as low to the water as possible. I picked up a couple of Pulsators and they work awesome too.

In the field I put the Mojos right where I want the birds to finish.

That works great if you are in a cross-wind situation but if you have the wind on your back I find it best to get them out in front of you. In a no wind situation placing placing them off to the sides of the spread can make for some awful angles and stretched shots. The first few birds in are usually the best way to determine placement. It only takes a minute to move and reset them.

I just remembered I have two wind-activated spinners too. I'll take one of those out next time too.

Depends, sometimes I keep it right beside me and I tear it down when geese come.

In duck opener I had it 15 yards in front of us in a small pool of water.

You could hear ducks wings hitting the mojos spinning wings before daylight and ducks would land RIGHT on top of the mojo with that white fluttering they see from it.
