langley b.c.
not sure if i posted this in the right place... but given that this is the precision rifles forum i thought it would be okay.

is there anywhere in the lower mainland b.c. that you can shoot at a yards+ or anywhere thats at least no more than a day trip from langley b.c.
i have been to sylvester rd. a number of times and aside from it being absolutely filthy, there isn't much distance out past 300 yards.

i realize that to some this may seem like i'm asking for the location of your secret spot.... which basically i am... i just want to be able to work on longer shots than 300 yds.

thanks in advance for any insight you may share.

East of Mission there is quite a few longer range areas you can shoot. I wouldnt say a 1000 but very close and a few spots I frequent often are good for up to 700. I will say nothing else except google earth is your friend, a capable 4x4(these longer range spots usually have to be found by making your own road, thats why there so great and not known about) and a little bit of exploration will find you some great spots.

Sorry, I don't know any spots east of Mission, north of Lougheed for 1000yd. Nope, none!
As above, google earth is your friend, and think outside the box.
I'm talking to my shooting buddy now about opening our 600yd gong to CGN. He's a tough nut to crack, but I'm working on it.

oh man this is one of those threads I wish I had said nothing at all, just wait till you start getting the PM's asking if you can take people with you next time you go.

:) I just answered one.
I feel like a real prick because I declined. When my buddy and I started setup he paid for everything, gongs, lumber, etc, and he asked me to keep it quite. I told him I would and I keep my word.

Yeah I feel the same way some times but hey it took me a good month of running down washed out roads and making my own trails to find my spot. In general Im a solo shooter when it comes to my bolt guns, if I take anyone its only one friend. I like to just take my time and shoot. Semis on the other hand, the more people the better just blast away

Sylvester Rd situation will be the reason why no one will reveal there 1km shooting location. One to many ######s not taking care or cleaning up after themselves.
i absolutely agree with you... its absolutely disgusting how little respect people have for nature.. and others. i've made quite a bit of money in scrap picking up spent brass there. but when i go out to shoot its not really the way i want to spend my time.

Kylegood, Sylvester Rd is a long road. If you want some space and get away from the crowds, keep driving north. Look on google earth, make sure the pics are current and find the roads. Go up towards Salsbury Lake but stay to the right and go past it. Find a place to stop, find the next closest mountain, and shoot it. It's that easy.

**Edit** 15 hours of my spot posted here is long enough, wouldn't you agree.. :)

Drive up towards Chehalis Lake sometime. Lots of new cuts. The west side of Harrison is another place to look.

If you don't have a range finder, use a gps. I measured most my targets with gps distance finder.

Plan on hiking targets in wherever you go. I can't drive to any of my targets.

I've said too much, and I ask anyone reading this to NOT use magnum rounds if you find the gongs. They go through.

last time i was at sylvester rd. i noticed that they were actively cutting.... which is fine... what wasn't fine was that they were cutting directly behind the area i believe most people refer to as "little iraq" and there were four guys with there rifle shooting in the direction of the fallers!!! later that day we took a drive down and around and saw that while they left a perimeter of trees its only 20ft deep! its only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.. if at all possible i don't think i will be returning to sylvester.

It's pretty tough for anyone to take people they don't really know to a new long spot when you see the mess and stupidity that people cause at all the other sites. I for one won't take anyone I don't trust or know well. It's just not worth having it closed off or gated up. Unfortunately it's just the way it is these days.

Im new to the area and had the little iraq experience, never again!!!!. I shoot 50 BMG, 338 lapua magnum AI, 7mm rem mag, and 308. this is not the place for that. I would love to find a place to reach out safely. Perhaps some of us can get together and do some collective research

I know how tough it is to find some decent long range spots so i hear ya. but its just tough to open these details up to people you don't know. Many times its not the guy you even share it with, it could be the guy's friend he eventually tells that wrecks it. It took me quite a while to find my 1050 yrd spot but when I did, we put up a gong and me and my buddy made up a nice raised deck to shoot from and everything. Next time up, someone destroyed the deck.

Since recently meeting factionrr and knowing the kind of guy he is, I have let him know where this is but he is sworn to secrecy...right factionrr.. ha ha

I was listening in on mission/chilliwack rcmp 139.560,they were sending a couple of members up slyvester to check on gun fire in the area.
