Where to shoot on Vancouver Island?

I read in the paper two Victoria boys got pinched shooting in the woods outside Shawnigan Lake to the tune of a $495 fine from the RCMP. Love to get a single shot 50 but none of the range are templated for it, plus 2-300 yards are boring as fack. So is there anywhere to shoot gongs 1000 yards plus, legally on the Island that is not a 5 hour car ride both ways to such a spot?

All my friends have moved to Vic , The main reason i havnt is because of hunting , shooting and fishing. I know you can do all those things down there, its just a lot more remote up here on the North Island. We've got quite a few spots we can really reach out too. 1800 in some spots. I feel your pain

I seriously need to start long-bombing. I have the gear, just never got around to finding a chunk of land to do it on.
