I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out where I can legally go out and shoot. I understand that it has to be crown land and all but does anybody know of a place around Calgary area that I could go out and shoot some targets? Would Mclean Creek Off Road area be OK if I drive my jeep out to some remote area? I allways find shotgun shells out there thats why I ask. Thanks in advance!

I've gone shooting out in Waiparous (sp?). There's a large bog behind the gravel pit on the east side of the trunk road. I think it would be too wet in the spring, but it's solid right now, and you can shoot out to 500 yards if you want. Bikes/ATV's/Trucks aren't around as much right now as they are during the spring/summer. Most of the hills have trails running down the face so you can't shoot in that direction, but there's one at the NW (I think) corner with only one very lightly used trail running in front of it. You can see people coming for hundreds of yards in either direction.
I'd be interested to hear if there are better/more remote spots though - I'd rather not use that place during the more active offroading season.
