where to zero red dot sight for 348 Winchester??

so with 200 grain silvertips zero'd for 200 yards:

_25_____50_____75____100____125____150____175____200___225____250_____275_____300_______350 yards
+.1"___+1.4"__+2.3"__+2.7"___+2.8"__+2.3"__+1.4"____0"____-2"___-4.5"____-7.7"____-11.6"____-21.4" drop

As you can see, you really need to be able to guess distance after 250 yards, but from 25 to 250 yards it gives you about 6" variation, for some this is good enough, for others it leaves something to be desired.

Admit it, you'd love to see it on the new recruits at the convent.:):)

Perhaps one day, when old and weak sighted, I too may have to cross over to the dark side.
One thing that I know to be certain is that should I cross over to the dark side and mount a red dot on one of my Model 71's, I will only speak of it in confession with the nun from post 9 on my knee.

Put a red dot sight on my Browning 71. Where should I zero the sight? 100yd POA=POI or should I sight it 3" high at 100 yds, zero at 200 yds, -5" at 250 yds, -13" at 300 yds, given a muzzle velocity of 2500 fps, 200gr Hornady bullet. And what type target works best for zeroing small red dot sights?
By the way it really helps old eyes, put 3 rounds in to a nice 1" cluster at 100 yds with the new sight.

I picked up a nice little Aimpoint M1 a year ago as I was thinking along the same lines as you. Eyes getting a bit old for peep sights etc etc. As far as sighting in with an Aimpoint, you go on their website and download a target. Print it off and follow the instructions. Simple.

Now for the part that really disappointed me. When I look through my nice new Aimpoint, I do not see a nice crisp red dot but rather a bunch of red squiggly lines. These old eyes have a condition called astigmatism. I will be putting a Leupold VxIII 1.5-5x20 on my rifle instead of the nice compact little Aimpoint. Point being that these red dot sights are not always the cure for improved rifle sighting with aging eyes.
