Dremel and a bunch of time is what you need. It's a very time consuming process, and would be very expensive to get someone to do it for you.

Sounds like what you're looking for is checkering.
Stippling is usually what gets done to plastic stocked guns.
Most places I know of that do it, it's a $30/hr and 30+hrs to do it well.
I picked up a checkering cradle and some checkering files from brownelles about 2 yrs ago, and at the above quoted rates..... It's a bargain!
It is an art and a skill I just don't have the patience for or the skill to do well.....

I have stippled many of my own. Most were done by hand with the Lee Valley stippling tolls. You do need either a veiner or an outlining tool (Brownells) to define the borders. The last 2 that I did I used a cheap Princess Auto engraving tool set to the lowest setting. I rounded the tip with a diamond file. Hello for shortening the time frame.
