Where ya headed next? For real?

I should backtrack and correct myself a bit. The take "half the ammo" thing applies more to one- gun plainsgame hunts than multi big gun hunts. Not needing it is no reason not to take it, the stuff is gold over there.

In the interest of honesty my turkey hunt is cancelled for this year... I paid in full and outfitter has reserved my spot for next year and sold this years spot elsewhere... Unfortunately, I was forced to put my russian wolfhound down yesterday and as such my wife and I are not in a travelling mood... A plus for the outfitter that is commited to carrying the hunt over sans penalty... F - to disney who could give a #### less... And offers no help...

Will be "somewhere" in the Peace region of BC beginning of September for primarily Elk, caribou (hopefully), maybe moose and if I can climb high enough, sheep & goat.
Mid November will have me back at our usual spot west of G.P, Alberta for elk and deer.
Havent got around to hunting the island yet.

Superbrad, it is always hard to lose a friend. We lost our big fellow last march and I still miss him alot.

Maybe take a trip this fall? There are alot of inexpensive hunting trips you could take in the area.

I went out for yotes this morning and struck out.... but I feel better after having been in the field.....

Thanks alot guys, I really appreciate it... Lucky was a great dog and he is surely missed....

Going right up to Windigo? There's going to be more and more activity up there all the time now, with some of the projects in the works. :(

Wife and I both drew grizzly tags for this spring. Making plans and contacts for that now- heading out late May. She's says we're staying til her bear hits the ground. :)

Two of us are also going Stone sheep hunting, probably mid August. Those are the "firm" hunts.

Just bought my tickets to Texas for Friday. Going for North African Addax, this is the only place left in the world to take one of these critters. Also on list is Arabian Oryx, Scimitar Horned Oryx and Nilgai.
Texas law is changing Apr 6 and it will forbid the taking of these animals, so got to do it now.

Where abouts are you going? As far as I know except for the Scimitar Oryx you have to go high-fence for the others. I know of a few ranches that are so large it hardly matters.

Nilgai will still be huntable after the law change.

I got a buddy in the hill country, lives at Rio Frio, been doing this for the last 30 years. Not sure on the Nilgai, but it don't matter gonna shoot one anyway.

Oh ya, I'll be using my buddies 300 WM, Rem 700, didn't ask what scope.

We leave next Tuesday for Argentina...counting the sleeps! House/dog sitter lined up. Load worked up for rifle. Batteries for camera all charged. Fingers cross that Air Canada doesn't screw us up.

Argentina was fun.:D I'll go back one of these days.

You should hit the roar, assumeing its stags you're after. Where will you be hunting?

Ya, we planned the hunt around the roar. We will be near Santa Rosa. Blackbuck is number one on my hit list. Vanessa has her eye on a red stag though.

I know that many of you are watching the calendar pages flip while counting down the days. Care to share the itinerary?

Sounds like some GREAT adventure you're embarking on.

Turning 40 last year started me really thinking on my bucket list. Not that I don't have a few good years left, but how many will I be able to hump the bush while in reasonably good shape, who knows.

So, we've started to mark some milestones I (and a couple others) would like to embark on.

They include:
Caribou in northern Quebec.
Anything in Montana.
Moose/goats/whatever in BC
Cape Buffalo in Africa
Elk in the Alberta Rockies
Amongst others....

This year we've assembled a 6-man gang (thanks to old Army pals in Alberta) to knock the Elk hunt off the list.

Can't f'ing wait!! :D

I believe that Argentina has the only huntable free range black-buck. Spooky little buggers, but they calm down around 300 yards.

Argentina may have the highest concentration of good looking women. Mujer caliente, trophio.
