I have a turkey hunt booked for peele island in 3 weeks with a few fellow gun nutz and some freinds, also a moose hunt this october with the same bunch of guys.

Gonna be a blast!

Good luck... I had to cancel my hunt or I would be chasing big osceolas in florida right now... Sounds like you have a good time with friends planned...

Yep, it's always a good time with the gang, we all look forward to it every year. sorry to hear about your cancellation, but it was decent of the outfitter to hold you a spot for next year though.

Absolutely... And I am going to add in some money as he has hog hunting available also... So I will be having a turkey hog hunt next year...

Will be putting lucky to rest tommorow in our favorite walking spot...

Thanks to you and others who expressed concern.... All is good now...

I'm back

Well, I'm back and did manage a couple of critters, got an exceptional scimtar horned oryx and a north african addax and a nilgai. Will post photos as soon as I figure out how to get them from camera to computer.

Hey Superbrad, glad to hear you're okay with the passing of your dog now. Tough time I know!! Best wishes my friend.

Douglas

Thanks Douglas... it was for the best.... glad you made out well in TX.... Local turkey hunt starts next week so I don't have to go anywhere to have fun except behind the house....lol

A little earlier than here but we will have the bears out in the next 3-4 weeks and then the fun begins. We are allowed 2 black bear tags each here so we usually go for a few evening drives and thin the population down with guns and bows. I got a hankerin' to kill something with my double .470 NE so a blackie might just have to be first blood with it. Maybe a grizzly!!!

I'm reviving this thread to tell you guys I'm getting excited. The dates are now set for my Kalahari lion and Bongo in the Congo. Lion starts on Sept 27 and Bongo, Red forest buff, blue duiker and sitatunga in Congo from Oct 6-20.
They have taken some stupendous bongo this year, I have pics and will see if I can figure out how to post them here. Shockey was just there, with this operation, and took a bongo and red buff. I'm starting to get pumped, gonna do it all with my 700 Rem 375 H&H, 270 gn TSX and Zeiss Diavari 1.5-6.
Counting days now!!!!!!

Mine is getting close too, leaveing Saskatoon on August 12 for the feral cull in Northern Territory, Australia.

I was able to find a target shooter/enthusiastic hunter in Australia that was willing to put up 600 rounds of my 30-06 loads, plus my wife and I are allowed 5 KGs apiece on the airlines. My allotment is earmarked for the .338 Edge ammo though. If that isn't enough, I'll either shoot factory ammo or throw rocks.:)

Tundra Grizzly in May,Nunavut. Plane tickets cost almost the same as flying to some African countries, yet it's under a 3 hr flight.
Close to finalizing cougar for next winter.

Bearkilr;

What happened to the tundra grizzly in May, you never came back with an update or pics or stories at all, what happened?

No time this year, some unexpected things came up,so it's postponed until next spring. I had time in mid June, but I was worried about the hide being too far gone. Gonna shoot for the end of April/beginning of May next year.

Bongo in the Congo? That's pretty brave! I have a friend who shot one in Cameroon last year. Don't think the wife would let me go to the Congo even if the funds were there. :D

Why brave? Don't know what you've heard about the Congo lately but it's cooled off there politically a great deal, besides we'll be out in the bush WITH rifles. We also will spend no time in Brazzaville, land at the airport and head straight to camp.
Too bad about the grizzly hunt.

Photos

Thought I would share some pics from the operation I'm going for Bongo with in Oct. These were taken this spring.
