Wheres best place to get .223?

Try the EE here on CGN for used. For new, check out the Stevens 200 series in .223 or H&R single shot .223 both for around $320 from either S.I.R. (3w.sirmailorder.ca) or Wholesale Sports (3w.wholesalesports.com)

Ammo?? or the rifle??

I bought a crap load of Winch White Box ammo at walmart, cant remember the price but it must have been cheap becaue I dont own a rifle in .223rem:D :D

This is always the best excuse to get a new firearm!:)
 
Probably helps if we know where you are. A deal on one coast isn't always a deal if it's being shipped across the country.
 
I was told by reliable sources that .223/.556 ammo may be scarce this year because of the little "tiff" over in the Middle East.Along with .308,9mm, & .45ACP ammo.........

Nope, they are just going to cost more due to commodity prices. FWIW we have seen the first of of orders of handgun ammo arrive already.
 
Excuse me, John, but who actually makes American Eagle ammo? I went to Wholesales website and they list 17 manufacturers of centerfire ammo.

By the way, thanks for the tip. It makes me even more interested in picking up a .223. I drop into my local Walmart and all I see is a box of 40 for, say, $25.00

$5.99 looks pretty darned good. Thanks again. I guess the shipping to Ontario would amount to something, though.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I'm located in B.C (vancouver area/victoria area). Wholesale sports sounds like a good deal, I'll have to check out how much the shipping is! 5.99 a box, better than i was expecting (for canada at least :p)
 
You can get 40 round bulk packs of Winchester whitebox 45 gr HP .223 ammo at Wal-Mart for ~ $18 plus taxes. Works great in the two Rem 223 rifles I have.... ;)

Hey Oddjob (love the name BTW!),

If you are on the Vancouver side of the strait, you might try Reliable on Fraser Street. They are great people and deserving of the support. I got a 500 round box of 55 grn. AE a month ago and it was $159 IIRC. Not quite $5.99 a box (more like $6.36 a box) but not bad at all....

You might want to call to make sure they have some in stock before you make the trip (and to double check the price). It tends to move quick when they have it. Apparently I'm not the only one around here who likes to stockpile the stuff.:D

See my above post re: Reliable Gun. When I bought the case of 55 grn., they also had 69 grn. there as well. I was going to get some but I don't know if my 1:9 AR will like it. I think I bought a single box to try at the range before I commit to a case. Its somewhere in one of my ammo cans. I'll have to dig it out and give it a go next trip.

I know it is still pretty far from AB, but in the absence of better sources, right?;) Try giving them a call and see if they have any or if it was my imagination...
