Where's the M24?

Basically a Rem 700 built by the US Army. They had the option of changing out the barrel to a .300 MAG. I don't know how often that happened.

The M-24 is a rem 700 on a HS precision stock built for the US Army. The M-40 is a Rem 700 in a Mcmillan stock. Both rifles designed to meet each branches specs for battle and be capable of shooting 1MOA or better.

I realy dont understand the hype of wanting one when there are so many custom builders in Canada that can build a far superior rifle for around the same price as you are going to get a M-24 or M-40 clone. Yep clone because those rifles are specific to the military and not exportable with that designation. So if your going to get a clone....get a Canadian made clone. He who shall not be named, PGW, Coralane Sports, and many others do work that rivals the performance of those rifles. I guess if you want to spend your money on a clone thats your perogative, but if your chasing the ultimate in precision, your money can be better spent. If your chasing a true Mil-spec rifle go for the PGW it rivals all, and is Canadian.

Just an opinion

The M24 SWS is a 40X long action turned into a way over priced sniper rifle that is built in the Remington custom shop for the US Army aswell as s few other nations around the world that have mone money then brains. For the cost of the M24, there are builders who do the same job for far less. For the entire package, you are looking in the $12,000-$15,000. Nuts!

New production m40's are available from remington

They are producing them .. my understanding is that the waiting list is lengthy. I am gonna have my M40A1 clone built by the man that shall not be named (i love that .. thanks Long Range). My original USMC M40A1 stock should be in soon! .. Can't wait to see it! Definitely the way to go .. the clone should do 0.5 MOA all day long (as long as I am not the trigger man)

:D

What remington is making is a reproduction of the Vietnam issue M40 (wood stock). It does look cool.

If you want something that looks like an M24. Find an Rem 700P .308 with a shot out barrel, Get a rock creek 5R barrel imported and then do a barrel swap.

For a hell of a lot less money you can get a Montana barrel. I've had nothing but excellent results from them. .375 at 100 meters out of an AR15, 20" barrel belonging to one of my customers.

I have seen a M40A1 he had done previously and it was an awsome job, you will be happy.:D

If its made by Remington its a real M24. I've had my hands on one and let me tell you, after shooting other rifles, and having my hands on custom jobs by highly skilled people, like "He who shall not be named", there are way better rifles out there. Why would you pay Remington WAY to much money for the gun when for about $6000 you could have a skilled smith build you something on a top shelf action like Nesika Bay, McMillan stock, top shelf barrel, trigger, etc. For about $4000 less than an M24 you'd have one HOT S*#!T rifle. Then a guy would actually have to learn how to shoot!

+1 on everything Blackcloud said!

I have held and shot an M24, it is no doubt a solid rifle, but not for that kind of $$$ when there are custom builders that can do the same job, even better for less.

Exactly boys .. if you want something like that, the only way to go is custom. You are probably paying half the money on a a REAL M24 for the name.

Put a super sniper behind the trigger of an original M24 and a custom from "the man who shall not be named" and I promise he will go for the custom after all is said and done.

We need to shorten that up a bit .. TMWSNBN .. there an official CGN acronym!!
