Where's this cosmoline?

Look for the final inspection cartouche on the opposite side of the side that has the serial number, also look for the cartouche's that are around the cross-bolt. If they are present then you almost certainly have a Non-refurb, if they are not there it is almost certainly a refurb. Either way I would not worry about it. Its a beauty, its yours and its an Izzy which is even more appealing. Westrifle has a great selection of beautiful Russian's! I might just have to add another to my collection :)
 
Westrifle and Tradex plus others pre clean their sks, so there is very little to do! Just make sure the bolt/ firing pin channel are cleaned well so no slamfire! No big deal!

Their new batch does not have the stamps around the cross-bolt. I was told however that the one I bought was un refurb, un issued. I was a little confused though when I received it and those markings were not there. Any thoughts?

I would suspect it is a really light refurb, probably un issued though. I know I was in contact with Al from Westrifle looking for a 1953 Non refurb Izzy and he didn't have any that were in fact not refurbed. If it is Un refurbished he will always state that in the description online. Either way I wouldn't worry, Izzy's a rare, and you have a very nice example of one!
