After reading the great stories and viewing the great pics of the guys that have ventured to Africa lately, I would like to hear from anybody who has hunts planned in the future (somewhere other than your backyard) and for which game animals. I myself have two different hunts for this year...the Yukon in August (Dall sheep, Caribou and Grizzly) and Kodiak Island, Alaska in October (Kodiak bear and Sitka Blacktail deer). I have been planning and sand bagging for three years now...there's nothing like a hunting trip!! As one CDN gun nut has on his signature, "Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It is more important than that." :D

I had hoped to take James on a caribou hunt but after several months of emails and letters etc, I have yet to find an outfitter who will take him (unless we pay an additional $4500US for him to attend as an observer)

So I believe our next trip will be northeastern Alberta fly-in for a 5 day buffalo hunt.

Is the buffalo hunt typically a dead of winter hunt? I'm thinking of taking my son out next year.

The furthest I'm going this year is Sudbury or North Bay area for black bear. I was planning a winter caribou hunt in Quebec for early next year, but the guy I was supposed to go with had to back out. Maybe next year.

Im going with a few CGN'rs to Northern Quebec for a swamp donkey hunt...
we've got 2 tags between 4 guys, and the area is supposed to be pretty good...
Im starting to get anxious for the end of sept...

I'm heading up to the Yukon on September 19th. I'll be going for a trophy size bull moose and a grizz. I'll be taking my .338WM and my new beloved .375 H&H gopher gun. Other then that, being that I 999'd all my draws, I will be going in "tagless" to help my buds pack out their game and share some good hunting stories around the campfire. It's gonna be a good season, I just know it. :D
