I am thinking of getting a 10/22 and was wondering which model is recommended? Frontier has one for 299, synthetic stock, blued barrel. But I am not familiar with the 10/22. Do they all have the built in tip off mount?

I bought the "carbine" wood stocked version. They now come with plastic trigger assemblies and barell bands as well as a scope base shipped loose. I believe the factory base will accept any weaver style of ring. My 2 Savages have plastic stocks, so I opted for the wood version for the 10/22. So far no complaints at all, very reliable and lots of fun with 25 round magazines.

L/E most of the 10/22's are basically the same internally.
Any changes from one to the other are cosmetic in appearance.
The only big differences are the barrel lengths and/or heavy vs sporter barrels.
If you want to "build" it up, go with the basic model.

I'm happy with my stainless/synthetic version but would now rather have the stainless/laminate version now that its available.

Ok, cheapest one it is. I am basically looking for a replacement for my old mossberg. Its over 50 years old and it only has one 7 round magazine which is a finger buster. Its a good rifle and all, but technically its my dads so I don't get to modify it all that much, plus when I move out, it stays in my dads safe.

I picked up the 10-22RR @ Bass Pro outside of Calgary for $ 229.00. This beauty has the 20" blue barrel, cheap wood stock, simple iron sights, one factory 10 round magazine, factory scope mount and trigger lock, and no sling swivels... Its a great plinker for the price, I plan on building up the barrel and replacing the stock.

Also I added a fixed 4X Rimfire scope from Bass Pro for $ 49.00 (its a little cheaper but holds a zero well enough)

With 38 grain copper tipped american eagle .22 rounds, I was getting a solid 1" groups at 50 yards.

I would go with the cheapest model you can possibly find. I paid less than $ 300 for this complete package. If possible, check out a Bass Pro cause thats the best deal around for an entry model.

Good luck and let us know what happens.
