Which 1911 .22?

My GSG shoots all high velocity (1200fps+) ammo without a hiccup, accuracy is another matter with mini-mags being consistent. Seen many shooters have hang up resulting from thumb riding the slide as is commonly done with 9mm and 45ACP but will cause hangup on the 22lr.
I have one of those and I like it but it seems to be finicky. One mag will shoot all 10 rounds and the next mag will have an empty casing hang up on almost all shots.
btw...type of ammo doesn't seem to be a factor..*shrugs*

What is wrong with a pot metal gun for a 22lr that recoils like an air gun.

Respectfully

I'm from the steel and wood generation. Any gun I've owned that was polymer or aluminum framed I've sold. Tried to like them. Couldn't.

While I'm aware that polymer and Ali are sound materials today, I'm also from the generation where mazak and the like were for toys. The GSG feels like a cap gun.

I disagree. It's about $200-$300 more than the GSG, and it eats anything. I put almost 1500 rounds through mine without cleaning before a stoppage occurred. I do understand that the smaller size does put some people off, but that aside it is one of the best .22's based off a center-fire pistol available, IMO.

I respect your opinion, but in the wider world of .22 pistols you can buy a whole lot of gun for at or under the $500 mark - adjustable sights, good triggers, what have you.

What has the Browning got to land it beyond the top tier of plinkers and enthusiast/entry level target pistols?

I'm just not seeing the tangible value.

If there's a crazy Black Friday deal on one, then perhaps.

Had nothing but good experience with gsg..put thousands of rounds through my first, all I did was polish the feed ramp and add dlask adjustable rear sight..sold it, missed it so much I bought another.....ran all day on fed bulk...sadly can't find that anymore...so I'm running cci mini mags...no probs..
I like the browning, but can't get used to the scale....just too small..there is lots of choice in uppers, and everyone has their opinions...
Good luck with your search..

The answer is the RIA XT-22 pistol. Its a 1911 that has a bull barrel and a reduced size open top slide that is all steel, no zinc or aluminium here. The frame is a standard 1911 frame and in fact can covert to 9mm/45 and can take all standard 1911/45 parts. The only downside is it does not have last round hold open but since 22s are used for training anyways you can look at it as a "feature" that forces you to dry fire after the last round and will show you if you have a flinch and good follow through.

That looks really nice! I have a GSG/SIG and a Kimber conversion and neither has seen the light of day for over a year. Great for introducing new shooters but no good for me. The GSG/Sig has been flawless and eats it all, close to 2000 rounds through it.

If you don't like the GSG then see if you can score a vintage original Colt .22 conversion unit. [The one with the floating chamber].

I've had one for many years & it gives good service, if you keep it clean. [Waxy build up from .22 ammo likes to foul the floating chamber].

I also found out you can use the GSG 1911 .22 magazines with a vintage Colt .22 conversion unit, which is a bonus.

I fired two boxes of Blazer ammo this morning and not one hang up,hmmm, maybe these handguns have a break in period.

Kept the GSG, sold the M&P. Really no diff accuracy wise. The M&P has courser sights and is too light IMHO.

Both targets are 25 yds, benched with Win 333 ammo.

I remember reading and someone can feel free to correct me but sig sauer actually contracts Germans sporting guns to build their 1911-22. To me it speaks a lot for GSG, they must run a pretty tight ship. They really are a nicely made affordable( I hate the term cheap when it comes to quality stuff priced decent) 1911 based .22. And and the old saying goes, you get to save some money for more ammo, which you'll need for the price of .22 these days..
Hope you find what your looking for,
Cheers
