which 1911 to buy

I had to make the same choice last year ...

I did tons of reading ... and for me I concluded that a Springfield Armory "Loaded" version was what I needed.

I would recommend you to go on

Those guys are 1911 nuts ...they know everything about 1911

This is a stiff, accurate, reliable and beautifull handgun. I have around 1000 rounds thrue it now ...I just love it. Period. The trigger was a little heavy though. But a friend of mine did an amazing job and dropped it to 3.75 pound. Now, this 1911 is a cadillac.

ps: Don't evaluate the gun precision on the holes you see on that target ... this is an old picture. The gun can easily just fill the little white center zone ...but that was my first time out with it ;)

This is my baby.

Maple Leaf Pilgrim, I like your selection criteria. My Para Ordnance 13-45 meets them all ecxept #7 (expensive), plus the advantage of 10 round (.45 ACP) mags. The Commander size, stainless steel, and 10 round capacity sold me on the Para for a 1911.

My beef with Para Ord:
They are made in Canada, but cost twice as much her eas in the USA. They are also cast and I have seen a few of them with casting inclusions, cracking issues, etc. that NEVER should have got past their QA/QC inspectors. I agree a properly madecast gun is acceptable for use - note the "Properly made" qualifier.

If thye gave Canadians the same deal they shower on US citizens then I'd consider supporting them.

As for the Springer loaded - looks good, but I'd loose the Pachmayr grips. That 1911 would look SOOOO much better in wood, micarta, or alumagrips.
