It depends what you intend to do with the gun and how much you are willing to spend...Colt and STI are great guns but if you are looking for precision, reliability and you are willing to spend a bit , I would vote other, as Les Baer.

I would also second the recommendation for Les Baer. I was recently pleasantly surprised when my Custom Carry that I had ordered from Wanstall's showed up a few months earlier than I expected. With lower pricing than the other semi-custom 1911 brands, they appear to be a good value for money.

I've heard nothing but 'exceptional' about Les Baer; I'd love to have one.
My STI retails for $3g; SWMBO's SR1911 cost us a fifth of that, and I ain't prepared to say that the STI is any more accurate than the Ruger. And the 1911 "she" shot that she liked best and did best with? - a High Point.

I only own one for now a Les Baer Premier ll... A Hemi 572 should follow pretty sooon, i cant compare with other top shelve ones, but i know it belong up there, the accuracy is out of this world, and after 600 rounds, if i except one malfunction in the first mag, it's been perfect... JP.
