Which 1911?

Looking for a half decent 1911, not interested in norinco, has anyone noticed any new auto ordnance in Canada? What else is out there?
 
Sam for the lower end budget....nothing wrong with being budget conscious...sti if you have a little more to spend....just love mine..
 
I don't know if the Sig Saur line is hand fitted or not but I got to shoot a 1911 9mm Sig at my range on Sunday and it was as nice as my buddies Springfield. Even my shaky hands shot a nice group with it.
 
I'm pleased with my Remington R1. Reasonable price, leaving some budget for upgrades / spare mags / ammo.
I've had it for a couple of years now, so I can't comment on current QC standards.
 
the hand fittings sam's get is more because the parts off the line have wandering tolerances. It's more like the hand fitting most colts get, the old machinery can't hold tight tolerances so the assemblers have to pick and choose parts to match over/under size bits to get correct fit up. Parts are still ok, just wider size ranges; assembled correctly, and no argument, SAM does (and better then colt IMHO excluding their custom shop) do it right.

For the money it's hard to beat the SAM, but i'd probably save the extra and buy and STI and be done with it, far and away better pistols. I'm curious about the latest para's as i believe someone else is building them now. They look good.........

Exactly the point. All guns from SAM are built to oversized specifications, much like Les Baer and all the other 1911 makers who still do everything by hand.

I don't get all these idiots #####ing about how SAM parts are not "mil spec"... clearly they don't know how a gun built by hands has custom specifications on all the parts, since they require detail by craftsmen.

Nobody TRULY appreciates the quality 1911's that are being pumped out of SAM, simply because we're used to a cookie cutter world where CNC machines spit out everything. And also the fact that because the gun isn't American, it's deemed lower in quality. Maybe the brand factor doesn't wow people either.

SAM's should not be put in the same class as Norincos, Rugers, and anything under the $1500 price bracket, because you can't compare a custom made gun to an assembly lined one, much the same way an original piece of art, to a poster.
