Looking for some recommendations on a high quality .22 rifle with higher a capacity mag. I'm assuming there is nothing available with a mag above 25 rounds or so? Also which online stores carry these?

im not a mossberg guy... what was the reasoning for them being screwed over

I have a Mossberg 715 and it has worked great for around 7 thousand rounds so far by the way.
Mossberg in their wisdom decided to make a pistol version of the rifle in the U.S., so....pistol mags are limited to 10 rounds and since the mags fit both pistol and rifle, it's classed as a pistol mag.

The PPS has drums available, the Remington 597 has 25 rd mags.. Lots around

Thanks for the info Galt I just did a quick search on "PPS .22" and it doesn't get very favorable reviews from what I can see. The 597 looks like a nice gun. I do like the looks of the more military style guns though, and so do my easily impressionable friends when we go plinking in the bush.

"High quality." I guess since people are talking about Savages and GSGs I will chime in with the Marlin 795. Very reliable, accurate little rifle. Standard mags are 7 rounds and 10 rounds, but 25 round mags are available, along with two sizes of drums. I think the large drum holds 100. There is no pistol version of the 795 (unlike the Ruger 10/22), so the Mounties will have to twist themselves into different knots in order to proclaim these "high capacity" mags prohibited.

I really like my little Marlin. That said, I haven't bought the drum mags yet. They look heavy. I wish they had some sort of "double stack" or stagger stack type of mag for the Marlin, so that the 25 rounder would be easier to use when shooting prone.

I'm a big fun of the GSG Sturmgewehr 44 Schmeisser in .22cal. Excellent build quality, great accuracy with iron sights, easy to disassemble for cleaning, mags 25 rounds. With some optics it has an unsurpassed accuracy.

I wouldn't call it high quality but it is fun, PPS-50. Comes with 30 Rnd mag. I have only had a FTE a few times out of 1000s fired. Put a red dot on it and the kids loved it. I hear you can still get drums for them as well as smaller mags. Lots of fun, accurate enough at 25y for the gong.
