Which .22LR Pistol To Get?

Ok, here's the deal.

What I don't want because they are ugly:

Ruger Mark

Whaaaaaat?

about looks. Accurate pistol that feels good in your hand will eventually look awesome to you. I never liked Brownings for example, they were on par with Rugers to me, just as fugly. But it all changed once I walked up to my first taget I shot with it. Buckmarks are friggin beauties!

My number one favourite 22 is the Browning Medalist. They are deadly accurate and have a deep glossy bluing and rich wooden grips. Did I mention that any shooter is deadly accurate with one? First picked mine up and had 19 shots out of the black on 150 rounds. 10 spot on the target was gone.
Sig mosquito comes with 2 springs, if your using the light spring for taget ammo and the heavy spring for high velocity they perform great. Mine did not like cheap ammo, had to buy Federal gold target for her.

I too thought the Ruger and Brownings were real fugly. I ended up buying a Ruger Mark III just the same. It does grow on you especially after you shoot it.

Unfortunately my Ruger is up for sale to fund my addiction to (expensive and hard to find) left handed bolt guns.

Ruger MkIII ugly? :slap:

I really like the looks of them. I have two. A blued (black) 5 1/2 bbl target and a stainless hunter.

This doesn't look ugly to me:

Nice guns. I like the look of the Ruger as well. I was going to buy a plain black but now that I see that SS Hunter I think I may have to throw in the couple hundred extra and go for that one.

I'd buy a High Standard. I had one and they shoot fantastic. Take a look in the Equipment Exchange, there is a guy with a mint looking one for $550.00

Thanks. One thing about the Hunter. It comes with a V-notch rear site and a fiber optic front sight. I had them replaced on mine (More $$).

The 5 1/2 bbl target is a handier pistol due to it's shorter length. It balances and points very well. As an all around pistol it's better than the Hunter. You can also buy this target model in stainless, which I would recommend. The stainless models seem to have a bit better fit/finish and are easier to seperate for cleaning (about $50 more for stainless). Add in some Hogue grips and you're all set (mine are on order :D).

I have the Ruger Mark III Hunter 22/45, with 6 7/8" S/S fluted bull barrel, Hi-Viz fibre optic sights. Reliable & accurate.
But since I bought the Kadet kit for my CZ-75B, the Ruger is somewhat neglected.
Get both. One .22 pistol is not enough. :D

Thanks for the advise!

I have had two Ruger's and two S&W 41's. All are extremely reliable. My 10" Ruger was deadly on Rifle Turkeys at 77 metres. The Smith will hold its value. Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes right to the bone . . .

I'm sorry if any feels offended about my comments regarding the ruger and browning. But that is how I feel. Unfortunately, in terms of asthetics, I'm looking for something that resembles more tactical and have a closer feel to a centerfire pistol. The problem is the only 2 guns that I feel fit this description is the P22 and the Mosquito, which apparently have alot of issues being reported. Currently the only pistols I own do not have conversion kits available, except my Glock19, but then the kit would be prohibited. I think I have to take a long hard look at either the Ruger Stainless Target or the S&W 617 10 Shot. But like someone's mentioned above, wheel guns in 22LR just takes more effort to reload.

Is there really no other options out there for me?

I have a CZ Kadet. It cost 1000 bucks...but my wife bought it for me.
Sweet pistol, worth every penny.
