Which .308?

.308 load

Shotgunjoe,
I thought 47 gr varget was a compressed load for the 150 gr bullet, so your 48 gr would be pushing it a bit eh? I'm thinking of starting with around 44 to 45 gr....looking for accuracy.

Eastman, 48gr. is max load in some manuals.
47 can be a compressed load if you just pour it into the case.I always use a drop tube even just 6" makes a difference,in fed. brass 47gr. is not a compressed load this way. However as you stated you are looking for accuracy, work up until you get it and stop there.Although in my rifle there is little differece in accuracy up to 47.5gr.just recoil;)

I use 46 grains of varget, 155 gr. HPBT Palma MatchKing, 2.80" OAL.

Shoots 1/3 - 1/2 MOA all day in my remington.

As always, start low with powder charge. I started at 44.5 grains and slowly worked up. Found 46 worked best with the 155 SMKs.

Also, my rifle just wouldn't shoot the 168 SMKs. I tried and tried. It must be cursed. It loves the 155s though.
