Which .375 H+H Should I buy?

My 602 was worked over by an English gun builder so its an exception.
It weighs 9 lbs. 4 oz. scoped and empty or about the same as a 375 Ruger Alaskan I had.
When I carry it usually has a round in the mag and one in the chamber, no sling.
My CZ550 FS 9.3X62 is 8 lb. 6 oz. with the same scope as the 602, a Leupold 1.5X5 in Warne QD rings.
The 35 Whelen is a few ounces heavier than the 602 as its Bevan King barrel is a bit heavier contour and it also has a fairly heavy Bishop stock.
It wears an old but dependable Leupold M7 4X glass in Warne mounts.
I never mind packing a heavier rifle if it carries well and has good balance.
 
I'm a BC hunter too, and you'll likely get rained on chasing Grizzly. I can't think of a better value, or rifle, than the stainless Winchester Model 70 controlled round feed .375 H&H. No longer made, and not the easiest find. Now Would it hurt my case if I mentioned I have one for sale? :p Shameless, I know. But quite frankly it would be my ultimate .375 if I wasn't so married to my Ruger, too much hunting history with the Ruger to take the Model 70 afield. One has to go...

.375's are built to work for a living, stainless helps for sure. Not to mention the Winchester is "cheap" compared to the competition and is one of the best rifles going.
 
It isn't a .375 H&H , but there is a Winchester Safari Express in 416 Rem.Magnum in the EE right now.
If the .416Rem doesn't tickle yer fancy then the Model and action might be worthy of your curiosity in the .375 H&H.
I understand your choice in caliber and tossed the .416Rem in for good measure.

If you are looking for "heirloom" quality I'd consider an old Sako Safari AV, although those are hard to find. Other ideas that pop into mind are a new Winchester Safari Express or Alaskan in a Echols pattern McMillan stock with one of the better quality coatings on the metal, or have one built on the action of your choice. You should be able to do any of those four within your budget.

Edit - another fine choice is the Sako Finnfiber, which came with a factory McMillan stock. I had one in .338WM and it was a very fine shooting/handling rifle. Or consider the CZ550 American Safari Magnum with the Kevlar stock or, if you prefer wood, the fancy grade walnut stock.

Your getting a lot of advice from knowledgeable folks towards the M-70, pay heed as I don't think you would be disappointed with a M-70. I have been using them since the early seventies. They were all good but the current manufacture are some of the best.
 
I have 3- 375's, Sako, ruger and winchester. For a north american hunt I think most are too heavy. The Winchester and RSM have heavy barrels and are 10lbs + loaded (at least mine are). The Sako fibreclass is around 8.5 lbs and would be my choice of 375 to carry after a G bear. But also consider a 338 win mag. Pushing 250 noslers, the 338 guns generally have better balance for a hike around mountain type hunt. And imo pack similar punch that a bear wouldnt know the difference. Also, a 9.3x62 in a ruger hawkeye would give same as same performance without the weight downer of most 375s.

I have a Win model 70 safari in 375 H&H. I will be using it for moose this year again in Newfoundland and am saving for Africa for next year.
Wonderful rifle.

Winchester M70, either the Alaskan or Safari.
 
My vote is on the Sako 85, either the Grizzly or Kodiak versions. Of the two, I most prefer the appearance of the deep bluing and brown laminate. Love the shorter and heavier barrels and greatly appreciate the iron sights.

I bought the Bavarian model in 375. Phenomenal accuracy but the recoil was unpleasant with the Bavarian stock. Acquired the laminate from either a Greywolf or the Kodiak and the change in comb, improved recoil pad, and added weight made my rifle pleasant to shoot. Had it out recently to sight my scope and was amazed at the tight groupings and much milder recoil from factory 260 Accubonds. Even 300gr soft points grouped at an inch with no significant change in felt recoil.

Tried a colleague's 85 Stainless/Synthetic, also in 375. Felt recoil was not too bad, but I noticed the flex in the stock when fired. Best groupings were around 2". I appreciate the aesthetic lines of the stainless and the clean barrel, but the stock sucks and hinders the potential accuracy.
