Nice Hogue grip on the 4.25". Heard it helps absorb the blow on your hand by dissipating the felt recoil compared to the rubber grip. Plus it looks a hell of a lot nicer.

Nope. That wood grip was checkered for an enhanced grip and it nearly tore my hand up shooting. It looked good but not comfortable when shooting lots. Id take the rubber hogue anyday.
I've had Nill on mine and loved them too. Too smooth for the sharp recoil of the 4" 44 629, but beautiful with milder loads and on the Redhawk.I don't find the N frame smiths to be comfortable in my hands. I changed the grips on my redhawk to nill griffe, world of difference. And the looks sharp too*
