Which 5 firearms

Currently and likely to stay that way:
1) Ruger leftie ss 77mk II 30-06
2) Savage 99c lever 308
3) CZ452 leftie 22lr American
4) CZ527 leftie 223 minimauser
5) Browning BPS 12ga pump
Nikons on everything but the Ruger-that has a Leupy VxIII
They all shoot really well.

This a damn nice list....(but not as nice as mine :D)

Currently, I would be happy with some of what I have. If it can't be done with this, why am I trying? I'm probably in a bad spot.

Husky 3100 .270 win
Marlin 1895 45/70
Ithaca 37 12 gauge
Scoped, banana magazine'd, folding stocked 10/22
Norinco m213 Tok 9mm with nice grips.

Ya sure Bronco-I bet yer just jealous. Then we can talk pistols too??

Being a fellow leftie I am pretty fussy about my guns, esp my pistols...

I chose as one of my five my HK P2000; my other choices would be my S&W 686 .357mag with the non fluted 7 rd cylinder and my Ruger single six Stainless .22 with rosewood grips and a 6.5" barrel...done and done. We have similar tastes...I have a couple of Nikons and love CZ's for sub $1500 guns...however, they can't compete with the Sauers for overall quality when money is not a big issue.

Savage Model 12FV 22-250
Henry 1001 22s-l-lr
Ruger Alaskan 375Ruger (but with a laminate stock)

Only 5... How are you suposed ot get by with only 5??

My 5:
338 edge - custom based off of borden action
325wsm in a rifle under 8 pounds with scope included
22-250 savage LRPV
Ruger 10/22
S&W 460

My top five would likely be what I have right now (or something really close to it). In this case I'd have to narrow it down from six:

- Savage 2400 12 gauge/.308 Winchester
- Winchester 94 Trapper .45 Colt
- Remington 700 .35 Whelen
- Ruger #1B .270 Winchester
- Remington 700 6mm BR
- Remington 541T .22lr

If you're limiting yourself to five guns then versatility is the name of the game. If we're talking Canada-legal and plausible for a regular guy to get hold of and actually use...

1/ Ruger 10/22 - .22lr. Small game hunting and plinking. Almost limitless ways to customize, and the only way to run hi-cap mags.

2/ Glock 17 - 9mm. Everybody should have one good handgun. Personally I hate the ergonomics on Glocks but these things are everywhere and parts/accessories will never, ever be a problem. 9mm has served many armies well enough for over 100 years, and much cheaper to shoot.

3/ Remington 870 - 12g. The ultimate Swiss Army Gun. Cheap, rugged and if you swap out barrels/chokes you can use it for everything from small game to wingshooting to big game to home defense.

4/ Mauser-based bolt gun of choice in .30-06. The strongest, most reliable action chambered in the ultimate do-it-all caliber. What else has bullet choices from 55gr sabot accelerators to 220gr moose-slayers? A well-tuned .30-06 can do everything from varmint hunting to big-game to long-range target shooting, and do it well.

5/ AR-15 - .223. Like the Glock these are everywhere and accessories will never be a problem. 10-round LAR griz mags and cheap ammo for the inevitable rise of the Zombpocalypse we all know is just around the corner. ;)

or if you're not the paranoid sort...

5/ Mauser-based bolt gun of choice in .375 H&H. All the versatility of the .30-06 but on a bigger scale, for use on anything that you might feel under-gunned going after with a .30-06.
