so if i'm going to buy an 870 for occasional hunting, but most often it'll take a tactical look do i want the express? i really want the 3.5" chamber and eventually one of them 12.5" barrels, providing i can shoot a 3.5" slug through it. i also like the wood look, but always have wanted a forestock with a surefire, what should i do?

I realy like the look of the Marine Magnum. Also looks good with the 14 inch barel:)

maybe.. am i still legal with a 14" and a pistol grip?

No that would be under the magic length of 26". The length of a 14" barrel on a 3" 870 receiver is approximately 21.25" so you would need at least another 4.75 " beyond that to make the minimum (those were quick measurements so don't hold me to them ;) ). Most PGs are much shorter than 5".

Cheers

I don't think they make 3.5" slugs. And I don't think they make 12.5" barrels with a 3.5" chamber.

Sounds like you really need 2 different guns. One for hunting, a one for, ah......mall ninja'ing.

There's really no reason to switch from a Mossberg 500 to a Remington 870 unless there's some particular feature of the 870 you can't live without. Functionally, both guns will get the job done in spades.

You need a Supermag 870 which is chambered for 3.5" shells and also a barrel that is chambered for 3.5" shells.

I don't think they make a 12.5" barrel with a 3.5" shells. 26,28 and 30" only I believe.

A 3.5" shell only gives you more shot payload anyways. And for shooting pretend or real bad guys, I am sure a 3" or even 2.75" shell will do it.

well i guess if i get an express or something, i can shoot 3.5 with the factory barrel for hunting, and i'll be able to switch barrels and just run 3" i guess for the bad guys right? where can i find a supermag and whats the difference i dont see it in the sir catalog

You can get the Express or Wingmaster in the "supermag", 3.5" chamber. Anyone who carries Remingtons will have them or can order them.
