Ive used Frontier 147gr plated bullets in my Beretta elite ahead of Tightgroup.Very soft shooting and accurate.I usually order through Higginson powder.

+1

Frontiers work great in the glock and P9....very mild percieved recoil too. The early batched of frontier bullets had thinner plating....the 'new' batch are apparently thicker adn I have not had any 'jackets' blown off em.

I would use 147gr like a montana gold. If you are using a Glock, or especially an HK with Polygonal barrel, I would steer clear of anything plated.

NO HOGWASH!

I called a plated bullet company (X-treme), and that is exactly what the person on the phone told me. The person was also an IPSC/USPSA shooter, and described that they have never had good results using their plated bullets out of HK's and some Glocks because of the polygonal barrel.

I also shoot lead outta my glock:)

Read my posts. Call them yourself.
I guess I was imagining 2/3rds of my rounds on target this weekend tumbling or keyholing. Oh you can shoot them out of your Polygonal barrel, and they cycled great, but rolled like a snowball!
I have shot lead out of my first HK, and it worked very well, but then we were not talking about lead.

Wolf told me not to use his platted ammo in my G17. He said they would keyhole.

That is exactly what he told me as well.
I wonder if it was the same projectile?
Two different HK's I have had, had this problem with plated ammunition.

Wolf's plated ammo is Frontier metal he gets from Marstar. I shoot kilos of that s**t through my G17. Never keyholed once.

It is now, but I was told he was using something different before. I have shot Frontier out of my USP in 124gr, and it worked fine. These plated were called "west coast" at one time, now called X-treme.

Until Marstar started bringing those in, he was getting mainly West Coast.

Frontier plated bullets are fantastic bullets for a plated bullet.

I even have people shooting 9mm major with 124gr bullets in their race guns and they're happy with their groups.

They simply could not duplicate that feat with West Coast, Excel, CP or Ranier.

What I am getting from this thread is this;
polygonal barrel pistols;
Frontier=good,
West Coast=not so good.
Regardless of what 147gr you use, perhaps take this info into consideration.
OR, use Montana for a few dollars more...........Clint Eastwood (Gold member voice)

I have a beretta E2 92 and 96 and only shoot frontier bullets. Not one problem with the 147 9mm or the 180 40s&w. I like them, I like them a lot.
