Which 9mm 1911?

I'll trade it to ya for your commander and some cha-ching if you like? After all those little guns are for girls and rappers.:p 2000 posts ...dear god

BAHHHHHHHH. I came across a few threads that say how the 1911 design with a 9mm does not work well. The gun is too big for the cartridge. Some ammo works and others don't. To make it run well gunsmithing had to be done and there wasn't a 100% success rate. Anyone here have any new info about this or experience?

That pretty much sums it up. :D While I love 1911's and especially commanders, I have had three Colts that would not reliably feed everything. I have heard complaints of the same nature about STI and Kimber 9mm's.

I would still love to get a lightweight commander in 9mm but I accept it will need work to function.

BTW there's a series 80 9mm in the EE right now!

There was two...now one. The one I just sold was perfect. It was trigger tweeked by a smith and that was all to the best of my knowledge. The other one I sold a few months back was awesome even thought the slide was for a 10mm! I don't know what you boys are talking about ...

Now who wants to get rid of that safe queen commander in 9mm? I gots cash in hand and need for a little girl gun!

Thanks everyone for hijacking my thread and making me spend alot of money.

Have a nice day. :)

Okay, since I was one of the one's that 'digressed' here I'll answer your 'thread' question...

If you are looking to get a 9mm 1911 and 'spend as little as possible'... then the Norc NP-29 is the one to go for. Heck you can almost get two for your price cap of $800. But you're gonna have to wait for the next slow boat from China as the 'source' is all sold out of new ones right now. And used ones on the EE don't come up that often... :(

Beyond that there's two Serie's 80 Colts 9mm 1911's on the EE for sale right now... check 'em out & see if they fit your bill. Personally, I go for one of them. Can't go wrong on a real deal Colt...

And as to whether the 1911 is the 'right' platform for the 9mm... Well, why the heck not? I have a Norc NP-29 9mm and it shoots just as well as any Colt currently in the stable. I love my .45's but the 9mm isn't bad for a pussy round... :D

There... feel better? :p

Can't go wrong advertising in the EE

Why don't you put up a "wanted" post in the EE?

I just did that a week and a half ago and got me a Norinco NP-29 with 50 rounds through it in about 12 hours... apart from 2 or three other offers!

I have the STI Trojan in 9MM. Mine works like clockwork...now. I found to solve the issue of the slide not locking back I went to a 10# recoil spring. Factory is 14#'s. I have not had a problem since. Sometimes mags require some tweaking. With my Shooting Stars I had to bend the foot out that engages the slide stop release on some of them.

The 1911 in 9MM is very fast in IDPA ESP Division. I am usually a half second faster at least pwe stage over my D/A S/A gun. Speed comes from the 1911 trigger I think.

Take Care

Bob
